About This Event
Dúhový PRIDE Bratislava is Slovakia's main Pride: a free afternoon festival and march run by a volunteer civic association of the same name. The first march, in 2010, was attacked by far-right protesters. 2026 was the 16th edition.
The political backdrop is heavy. In October 2022 a gunman killed two people outside Tepláreň, a queer bar on Zámocká street, and the attack was prosecuted as terrorism. State culture and justice grants for the event ended in 2023. In 2025 parliament amended the constitution to recognise only two sexes. A counter-march, Hrdí na rodinu (Proud of Family), has been held in the city on Pride day in some years, so expect a heavy police presence.
The 2026 edition took place on Saturday 18 July on Námestie slobody (Freedom Square). It started at noon, with courage as its theme. Entry is free. The festival pays its way partly through crowdfunding, which raised about €12,000 from just over 400 donors in 2026. Euronews reported more than 10,000 people in 2026; in 2025 the organisers counted a record 16,583 marchers, while police estimated about 5,000.
The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked. The last two editions were in mid-to-late July.
