Mad Bear brings Madrid’s famous bear party to Gran Canaria for three afternoons of poolside music, sexy bear go-gos and a crowd of bears, cubs, otters and chasers celebrating Maspalomas Winter Pride.

Visiting for the parties? Stay at Gold by Marina, an adults-only hotel with two pools, spacious rooms and a late breakfast service, just a short walk from the Yumbo Centre.

What to Expect

Mad Bear takes the bear party out of the nightclub and into the sunshine, with three afternoons built around swimming, music and meeting guys from the international bear scene.

Expect a predominantly male crowd of hairy bears, stocky guys, muscle bears and younger cubs, with plenty of speedos, swim shorts and shirtless dancing.

Guest DJs provide a soundtrack of house and familiar party tracks, with bear go-gos performing around the pool.

The afternoon format makes it easy to combine the parties with Winter Pride’s evening celebrations, particularly for visitors staying around the Yumbo Centre.

Each edition has its own ticket, so check the date and venue carefully before booking.

The Venues

The first two parties take place at AxelBeach Maspalomas, Avenida de Tirajana 32, close to the Yumbo Centre. The hotel has a large outdoor swimming pool, sun terraces and a pool bar used for special Pride events.

The final Friday party moves to Los Almendros, an LGBTQ+ bungalow resort opposite the Cita Centre, with a large pool, sun terraces, pool bar, Jacuzzi and gym.

Both venues are in Playa del Inglés, within walking distance of the main gay nightlife.

Los Almendros is approximately 12-15 minutes on foot from the Yumbo Centre.

Before and After the Party

The parties start at midday, so most visitors head straight to the pool. Afterwards, the Yumbo Centre is the natural meeting point for drinks, dinner and the Winter Pride nightlife.

Bärenhöhle – Yumbo Centre, local 151/9. A long-established bear bar decorated with hundreds of teddy bears, attracting mature guys, cubs and regular visitors from Germany and northern Europe.
