Hotel Francisco I

The hotel is perfectly located for exploring Madrid on foot. Breakfast offers everything you need to start your day right. The staff at reception and in the restaurant (breakfast and evening drinks) were very friendly and attentive. The rooms were functional and clean. Unfortunately, I can't give it 5 stars because the rooms are far too noisy. You can hear almost everything from the bathrooms next door and above, and even louder noises like children shouting, staff cleaning, or furniture being moved all come through almost unfiltered. This doesn't help you get a good night's rest. There's also an annoying green light above the door that illuminates the room. The restaurant should play some upbeat, less depressing music, at least in the evenings. Despite this, overall it was a good experience. I recommend bringing earplugs for noise-sensitive people.

Highly recommend staying here. This hotel was far more then we expected in terms of location, amenities, cleanliness, size and customer service. Its location saved us from having to ride the metro. From the exterior it looks like a stuffy old hotel but the interior has been completely renovated in contemporary/modern style. Very clean and well maintained. The bathroom near the complimentary breakfast/dinning area had cloth hand towels/wash cloths. For those who need these when bathing - they have them! Complimentary WiFi. We requested a room that was not on the first floor, as one does in the U.S. In Spain (and probably most of Europe) you will get the U.S. equivalent of the second floor or higher. The floor that is level with the street is considered the ground floor. You have to go up one flight of stairs to get to the first floor.

This is the second time I've stayed at Hotel Francisco I and it was even better than I'd remembered! The rooms are very clean, the central location is in walking distance of all major sites and shopping neighborhoods, and every member of the staff goes out of their way to be helpful. The highlight is the fantastic breakfast buffet! A huge array of options, including for people with dietary restrictions and various tastes and coffee drink preferences. Also, rely on the team to order a taxi for you for the airport; this worked out really well for our large party. Thanks to all who made our stay great!

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful city. Excellent location, equidistant from everything Madrid has to offer. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is both sweet and savory, basically something for every taste. Highly recommended!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Hotel Francisco I. From the beginning, communication via email was prompt and detailed. We were traveling with our young children, the family suite was perfect, plenty of room and space for the whole family. The AC was strong and cold, with a strong fan- priorities at night for our warm Texas blood. The included breakfast was impressive and offered many options for the whole family. The location was perfect, walking distances to most of the major sites and a few minutes away from San Miguel Market. We will be back to stay, a perfect place for both kids and adults while in Madrid. Highly, highly recommend.

We had four truly wonderful days in Madrid, and one of the reasons for that was the Hotel Francisco! Our stay was perfect from beginning to end! The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, the breakfast was plentiful and fresh, and the entire hotel was clean and charmingly decorated! The location is excellent for visiting the city (without a car)! Many places are within walking distance, and the metro is also very convenient. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Perfectly located hotel in the centre of Madrid on a pedestrian walkway. Close to many attractions within walking distance including Royal Palace, Theatre, Market, Cathedral & Gran Via shops, and only 3 stops on metro to Prado Museum and Retiro park. Room size is excellent, comfortable and cleaned daily, includes a fridge and safe. Some noise could be heard from the floor above though did not overly disturb us. Breakfast has plenty of options and available until 11am so allows for a lie in. This area doubled as a bar later as the main bar was bring refurbished during our stay. Mia manages the breakfast and bar area and she is a delight - a real asset to the hotel. There is 24 hour service and the front desk is friendly & always available, and there are lifts to all the floors. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a stay in Madrid.

The hotel is fantastic, the decor is beautiful. It has a large cafeteria where you can get something to eat or drink at reasonable prices. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially Mai, who is very attentive and professional. Located on Arenal Street, very centrally located. 100% recommended.

5-15min walk from all important points. Nice centric area without being loud. Wonderful breakfast buffet and comfy beds. Helpful people everywhere :) Will come back soon!

Perfect location and so Central to everything we needed, which was in walking distance. The staff were excellent and always very helpful. They arranged for a taxi to collect us from the door. The breakfast was exceptional with a wide variety of options. The room was very clean and spacious, and although it was on a busy street it was very quiet. We would definitely stay here again. It is very highly recommend
