Bern Pride is Switzerland's political Pride — an annual celebration and demonstration in the federal capital whose route passes the Federal Parliament building (Bundeshaus), making a visible statement about LGBTQ+ presence in the city where Switzerland's laws are enacted and administered. The event draws participants from the Berne region and from German-speaking Switzerland, with a programme that combines parade, speeches, live performances, and an evening of parties at Café Kairo, Exit Bar, and PINK. The event carries particular significance given that the Pink Cross — Switzerland's national gay organisation — is headquartered in Bern, and the advocacy organisations that achieved the 2021 marriage equality referendum and the 2020 anti-discrimination protections are based in or closely connected to the capital. A smaller but more politically specific event than Zurich Pride.
