Mavi Bar

We used to go there, but what happened? It's turned into a brothel. They charged 1200 lira for two beers and a plate of peanuts, and they even brought women who acted like hostesses to our table. We went there expecting a rock vibe, but we were treated like Ankara kids. Be careful, stay alert!

Mavi Bar presents itself as a rock bar with live music, which sounded very appealing on paper. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was completely lacking: the bar was practically empty, which totally killed the energy you expect from a rock venue. The waiter was very pushy, constantly hovering over us, which made us uncomfortable from the start. The drinks were expensive, plus there was an entrance fee, which quickly inflated the bill for a nonexistent atmosphere. To top it all off, they even tried to charge us for peanuts that were simply left on the table, without clearly stating this. Another strange thing was the presence of escorts in the bar, which created a rather heavy and unnatural atmosphere. We didn't feel comfortable there at all, let alone enjoy a concert in peace.

What a mess the old Mavi Bar has become. It's definitely changed hands, that's for sure. It's being run by people who are as far removed from the rock bar industry as possible. The place is full of guys dressed like entertainers. There was a live performance, but the acoustics were terrible; listening to music was a nightmare… We ordered a couple of beers, and they came with what we thought were complimentary salted peanuts. At the end of the night, when we asked for the bill for two beers, it came to 1000 TL. 200 TL for the snacks we thought were complimentary, and another 200 TL for the live band. There are other places in Alsancak where you can listen to quality live music. This 20-year-old establishment has been ruined right before our eyes, and no one warned us. I'm warning you now. If you're going to object to the bill, you should be prepared to risk losing a kidney. In short, it's a shame.

We paid 800₺ for two drinks for two people. The staff were very attentive, but it's quite expensive compared to other places, and the atmosphere is very noisy and has a strong smell. Normally, two drinks wouldn't be that expensive, so we wondered if this was a surprise for us that night. The name Mavi Bar is quite popular in Türkiye. I hope they improve the atmosphere a bit. Looking forward to seeing you again...

Read the other reviews, they'll steal your stuff off of the table if you're not careful and the place is running purely for scamming.

Extra charges are taken under the name of entrance fee, cover, music etc. Drinks are very expensive, there is no POS machine, it is a terrible business, never again..

Not reputable. I was there with clients. Instead of 11 beers, they charged me for 16. There are professional waitresses who ask for a beer, for which you then have to pay 3.5 times too much. The live music is really good. Solid rock with very good musicians. However, since the renovation, the entire concept has been geared towards ripping people off. I will never set foot in this place again.

Nightclub bar. Escort girls wandering from table to table. The music was good. The staff was terrible. They even tried to charge me exorbitant fees, and when I insisted, they removed the postal machine, which was allegedly broken. It's a creepy place. I went just for the Turkish rock; it's not worth it.

The beer is 400 and the atmosphere is beyond disgrace. The service is incredible, but incredibly bad. It should be closed as soon as possible. It was the worst I have ever seen in my life. No one with self-respect should go there. It is truly a shame.
