Genç LGBTİ+ Derneği

Genç LGBTİ+ Derneği (the Young LGBTI+ Association) is İzmir's best-known LGBTQ+ organisation, registered in the city in 2016 and focused on young queer people — offering peer support, health and rights information, safe-space work and advocacy against hate crime. It has been one of the most active LGBTQ+ groups in Turkey outside Istanbul and Ankara. In December 2025 an İzmir court ordered the association's closure, a decision the group is appealing; its community networks and social-media presence remain a reference point for LGBTQ+ people and visitors seeking local context. Travellers should treat it as an information and advocacy resource rather than a public venue.
