About this place The Village Inn

The Village Inn is at the southern end of Hurst Street and operates as the Gay Village's traditional community pub — the alternative to the larger clubs for those who want conversation, a regular crowd and the kind of bar where staff know your name. It has been a Hurst Street fixture for many years and has the character of a local rather than a destination venue: drag nights on Thursdays, karaoke Sundays, a mid-week quiz. The clientele is predominantly Brummies who live in and around the village, giving it an authentically local character that the more tourist-oriented venues lack.

The customers here aren't out for a good night or to have fun clubbing. Most of them seem to come just looking for trouble and starting fights over the smallest things. The whole place gets way too packed which makes everything feel tense and then you’ve got people randomly throwing drinks at each other. The bar staff are proper rude and don’t seem to care at all. On top of that you’ll find drug stuff being used openly in the toilets which just makes the whole vibe feel grim and unsafe. If you want a decent night out, give this one a miss. It’s not worth the hassle or the risk of getting caught up in the aggro. Wouldn’t go back ever.

Was walking past and saw toyota estima taxi drivers making hurtful and unacceptable comments to people going in and out this place. No one was helping the poor party goers Strangely some party goers were going up to one of the white toyota estima taxi parked up but not getting in and its window kept going down followed by a quick handshake and then the taxis window went back up My goodness, we are in England, Not Dadyal in Kashmir!!!

Sobering up at 3am in here and realising you have another 3 hours until the next train home is a real character development moment (and probably has motivated some to head to an AA meeting the next day)

Terrible service! Cocky, rude and self-centred management who I know for sure don’t want me a step foot in that bar! Maybe because I’m 18 and not at their mature age - they clearly don’t know how to provide a good enough customer service, and for that simple reason I won’t be stepping a foot in that venue again. Nice job guys.

Atmosphere is 11/10! Drinks were made super fast and very tasteful. The manager/security guard had very efficient and useful service , thanks for making my night!
