Pride Cymru
About This Event
Pride Cymru, Wales's main pride event, takes over central Cardiff for a two-day weekend. It's been running since September 1999, when it started as Cardiff Mardi Gras in Bute Park, a response to a surge in hate crimes that drew 5,000 to 6,000 people.
The event kicks off on Saturday with a free parade through the city centre - organisers expect over 7,000 marchers in 2026.
The ticketed festival is held on Coopers Field, beside Cardiff Castle, with multiple stages, stalls, and community tents. Tickets are sold through Citizen Ticket, and it's worth knowing they're single-entry, so you'll need to buy another if you leave the site. Under-5s get in free, though.
If you're planning to attend, book your hotel room early, as central hotels fill up quickly once the dates are announced. Cardiff Bus diverts its city-centre routes on parade day, so plan your travel accordingly.
The 2025 event ran from 21 to 22 June, back at its original home, Coopers Field. In 2026, it took place from 13 to 14 June, spreading across Coopers Field and the Castle grounds. Organisers claimed a crowd of around 50,000, though we couldn't find any independent confirmation. As of our last check, the 2027 dates hadn't been announced, but mid-June has been the pattern in recent years.
