SCHLOSS Roxburghe, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel
Visitors frequently praise the hotel's beautiful surroundings, well-appointed rooms, and excellent spa facilities, with many highlighting outstanding service and food. However, a recurring complaint is the very slow service experienced in Charlie's restaurant.

Lovely hotel with great ambiance in the bars and public areas. Staff very professional and friendly. Room spacious and beds comfy (estate room). Knocked one star off as the food was fine (Charlies) but not exceptional (for the price). The spa area is lovely but just teas and water to drink. It would be nice to get a glass of fizz when in the spa area. Heated outdoor pool is lovely (it is not huge and there is no indoor pool). There is a small outdoor hot tub too plus sauna and plunge pool. Great breakfast menu
Stunning location and spa. All of the staff were welcoming and helpful, making sure your stay was wonderful. Nestled in a gorgeous part of the borders. Highly recommend!
Booked a beautiful cottage. Unfortunately, though the cottages are over $500 a night you are treated like a second class citizen in the cottages. Our reservation said breakfast included, turned out in cottages that means you get a 25 pound credit at hotel store to buy your food and then cook it yourself. Not a 5-star vacation experience to say the least. Then we went to the spa to use outdoor jacuzzi and find out spa access isn't included, even though on booking.com it clearly says we have spa access, just as it said we had breakfast included. I felt like I was being nickeled and dimed for everything. Our cottage itself was lovely, but stayed during a warm week and discovered no temperature controls. You can turn on heat, but no air conditioning. Again, not 5 stars. 5-star properties have air conditioning. So we tried opening windows, no screens, so cottage filled with bugs and moths. Then we added for a fan.. Never received fans. No tubs, just small showers with no grips so you nearly fall just stepping in. No benches in showers. Super slippery shower floor. They also advertise as being child friendly, but their kids club was not staffed the entirety of our stay and they only allow kids in the pool from 8 to 10am, not at all convenient for parents and families, not to.memtion, again you don't get pool access in the cottages, which are more expensive than the rooms. Again, even Holiday Inns give you pool access, its a badic of most hotels. I would highly recommend this property reevaluate their policies and make all reservations inclusive of all services, especially when our reservation clearly stated they were, yet they were not honored. Very disappointed with the level of services at a so-called 5-star property. Its a stunning property, but the services need to match, and they don't.
We stayed 2 nights here and dined at Charlie’s and Sunlaws each night. The hotel is by Hyatt in a 300 acre estate, previously a castle. It’s a hour and a half car ride from Edinburgh. The hotel is completely refurbished with modern decor. There’s a spa with heated pools and a nice gym here. Rooms are cosy, spacious and my room has great views overlooking the golf course. Only vanity and shower cap is provided. And they use the Molton Brown bath and shampoo. If you are in for a fully immersed relaxing time, then this is for you, offering a chance to unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. There’s literally nothing for miles and miles away. The town is far away. There’s a small shop which is basically like a small convenience grocery store serving hot drinks and some cakes and biscuits and snacks. Breakfast is provided and the selection is very enjoyable. Lovely croissants, bread, pastries, fresh fruits and yogurts plus a nice salad bar featuring olives, salmon, tomatoes and much more. You can also order made to order eggs, and there’s black pudding and haggis for the hot selection. There’s also a huge whiskey library in the hotel. The selection is vast and amazing. Activities such as clay pigeon shooting, golf, fly fishing are available here. Service is good and we are always greeted with lovely smiles.
Beautiful golf course in good condition.
