About this place Retro Bar

Retro Bar is a gay pub in George Court, a narrow alley off the Strand a few minutes from Charing Cross station. It's more West End than Soho. The music is 70s, 80s and indie rather than chart pop, and the crowd is a mixed, chatty bunch that is more relaxed than the Soho bars. Most weeknights have something on, including quizzes, comedy, speed dating and DJs. It opens at 16:00 on weekdays and 14:00 at weekends, and closes at 23:00 (22:30 on Sundays). It works well for an early drink after the theatre.

My girlfriend took me to Retro on our second date, and now 1.5 years later it's still one of our favourite places to go! Lovely little bar, very warm and welcoming staff members, vibes are amazing from both staff and patrons. I love coming here, it feels incredibly safe, cheerful, and snug inside. The one major downside is that it can sometimes difficult to grab a seat, but once I have that I'm in heaven. Drinks are Central London priced.
