What reviewers say

Some visitors praise the friendly staff and atmosphere, with one reviewer highlighting significant personal fitness achievements. However, a common complaint is that the venue is expensive and has lost its appeal as a gay club, with some patrons feeling unsafe and describing it as "dead" or catering to a different crowd.

About this place Powerhouse

Powerhouse is the principal gay nightclub on Westmorland Road — Newcastle's Pink Triangle — and has served the north-east's LGBTQ+ community for many years. Multiple rooms, weekly events, a crowd that travels from across the region. The Pink Triangle area is smaller than it was at its early 2000s peak, but Powerhouse has maintained consistent operation. The Geordie warmth for which Newcastle is famous applies in the gay scene as much as anywhere else.

Extremely pricey entry for a venue without any charm or unique appeal. It didn't appear to be a gay or queer club at all. Music wasn't to my taste, unappealing mixes of cheesy hits and chart toppers. Was approached by multiple men and didn't feel especially safe there as a lone woman when I was separated from my friends. Had hoped for a night out in queer company but ended up counting the minutes until my friends were finally ready to leave. Not for me - I won't be making a second visit.

Oh, what has become of powerhouse?! What was once a brilliant Gay club Is now dull lifeless hole That now just seems to cater for straight students. no more atmosphere no light up dance floor. Yet another queer space lost. Will never be going again

Absolutely disgusting the staff have no compassion or respect baring in mind it was my first time in 5 years. The bouncer named arron rafeek attacked me with such force the metal railing went down with me and my head held to the floor. They get away with things because the entrance is at the back and cctv vanishes. I called the police because they then had my friend ( female ) attacked and pinned down. It’s because I called the police first they played the victim and I got ignored baring in mind they obviously took both our bags. The place needs shut down I would advise everyone to be very careful as the doormen seem to attack everyone! And they have my bag which I just found out yesterday. There just lying vile soulless people

£20 to get into a dead club…. Absolute waste of money getting in here. No one is here, I even paid half price to get in! Absolutely dead inside. I can see this closing soon.
