About this place Rusty's Newcastle

Rusty's is a gay show bar in Times Square, the plaza by the International Centre for Life, at the edge of Newcastle's Pink Triangle around Westmorland Road and Scotswood Road. The programme is drag shows, drag bingo and party nights, with DJs running late at weekends. The crowd is mixed: locals, hen parties and people moving between the bars nearby. The other Pink Triangle venues are a few minutes' walk away, so most people treat Rusty's as one stop in a longer night. It has a 3.7 Google rating from around 160 reviews. Show nights and ticketed events change, so check the venue's social media before you go.

Love the staff, bouncers are good - but not a gay bar. Friend and I got hate crimed by straights. Be advised, gay folk, queer folk, alt folk - Rusty’s is full of straight men and it is not a safe gay space.

this bar is hardly a gay bar anymore the disgusting aggression you will face here from straight men who visit this bat is horrifying, staff are not equipped to deal with the behaviour of some patrons.

Came up here from Manchester after being told it was a good lgbtqia+ bar. If you are a woman the bar staff will not serve you. I spent an hour and a half qued at the bar, the bar staff completely ignored all women and only served men.

The horrible security did nothing when my phone got stolen, except kick me out of the bar for “over reacting” I’m leaving this review for any international people so they can be warned about this place’s policy. I wasn’t making a crazy scenario but this buff security guy came up to me urging to leave the bar. For anyone I don’t recommend this place if you are looking for a safe fun night! Please check out any other locations
