FADA Rwanda

FADA Rwanda (Feminist Action Development Ambition) is a Kigali-based feminist organisation founded in 2015 and registered with the Rwanda Governance Board. It works with lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer women and female sex workers across Rwanda, offering advocacy, community support, economic empowerment and safe-space programming. FADA has become one of the most visible queer-led groups in the region, and in 2025 it hosted the Pride Africa summit in Kigali, bringing together delegates from across the continent. As one of the few openly registered LGBTQ+ organisations in the country, it is a valuable point of contact for visitors and locals seeking community connection, resources or support. Because the wider social climate remains conservative, FADA works thoughtfully and many of its gatherings are shared through trusted networks rather than broad public advertising.
