The Westin Surabaya

I've attended several events at The Westin Surabaya's Grand Ballroom. As a 5-star hotel, the ballroom's facilities are undeniably spacious, grand, luxurious, and classy. ​However, the aspect I'd most like to highlight and commend is the quality of the food. Of the many events I've attended, not a single meal has been a disappointment. ​Everything, from snacks, dim sum, canapés, to main courses, including Chinese, Indonesian, and Western dishes, has been delicious and prepared to a high standard. One of the most memorable dishes on my palate is the dim sum—the flavors are truly authentic! ​The Westin Surabaya has proven to be very consistent in maintaining the quality of its culinary management. Kudos to the kitchen team and their service. Highly recommended and definitely approved!

Every morning, my daughter and I had breakfast together. Since my hand was wrapped in bandages, the staff noticed immediately. Before I even had to ask, they came over to help me with my breakfast and kindly asked me to stay seated while they brought everything to my table. Every time, they would smile and say, “If you need anything else, just call me, Ma’am. I’d be happy to get it for you.” It’s a simple act of kindness, but one that made me feel genuinely cared for. Every member of the team was warm, attentive, and always ready to help. Thank you, Westin Surabaya, for reminding me that true hospitality isn’t just about beautiful hotels—it’s about beautiful people.

It was my first experience, visiting Westin for business purpose. I love the ambience.è food was fabulous especially the steak, of Aussie meat by Chef Freddie. Looking forward to the next visit. Overall it was a nice experience,

This hotel has held a very high spot on my Surabaya hotel list, however my last few stays have not gone as smoothly as they have in the past. I do generally see myself as an easy guest, as I'm a self sufficient person and know that the staff is very busy. Two separate stays I was put in a room with a fridge that leaked water at night. A towel fixed that, no problem. They also helped dry my laundry FOR FREE after I had to travel to them with laundry that hadn't dried properly at another hotel before. Very very generous of them. This last stay, the hotel was EXTREMELY busy due to weddings and a government conference in town, and I got lucky enough to snag their last available room, which happened to be the two twin beds in one room. Again, totally fine, the beds and layout are both awesome, no complaints. However, the phone in the room doesn't work and there is no hot water. Again, not gonna complain, because tbh, it's hot here and a room temp shower feels great and is better for your skin, and I don't really want anyone to call me anyway. The thing that I can not accept is that people are allowed to let their children run around the hallways at all hours of the day and night yelling and/or crying for hours. Walking down the hallway to go to their room? Sure, totally understandable, you're transiting to your privately rented space. Inside the hotel room? Absolutely, go ham, you paid for it. But in the hallway? Sorry, not sorry, absolutely not. I also paid to be here and the social contract states that we treat public spaces as shared spaces and are respectful of each other. You need to go for a walk with your children? Take them to the mall, or the downstairs park or the lobby where the noise level is an acceptable match to your activity and not right outside other people's hotel room doors. This is one of the reasons I switched to the Westin from the Fourpoints, but is seems to continually be a problem at both places, even with "quiet spaces" signs. I feel like I'm acting like an entitled a-hole about this, which is why I'm still rating this hotel very high - but it is still my honest review, so there you go. Despite the behavior of the customers, the staff here is so beyond amazing (Tian, Ryan, Evan, literally everyone who works the lobby and the Club Lounge are phenomenal) and despite some of the fixtures not always working properly, the rooms are still the most cozy rooms and the beds are devine. But I would just very much like for the social contract for the shared spaces to be enforced a bit more.

I’m currently staying at The Westin Surabaya and really liking it so far. The room feels comfortable and the ambience is nice, water pressure is great, and having direct access to Pakuwon Mall is super convenient. Breakfast is also really good with a nice spread and lots of choices. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

I recently stayed at The Westin Surabaya for 4D3N and overall, it was a fantastic experience. The hotel delivers on luxury, impressive city views, and genuinely outstanding hospitality. That said, a couple of design choices left me scratching my head—especially as someone who travels and works on the road. The highlight of the stay was definitely the recognition of Marriott Bonvoy elite status. As a Platinum member, I was upgraded to a Junior Suite, which was a wonderful surprise. The suite was huge, with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing beautiful views of the Surabaya skyline. The sense of space was impressive, and it immediately felt like a special stay. What truly made the experience memorable, however, was the staff. The teams at Magnolia Restaurant (Evan, Binar, Handy) and the Club Lounge (Mahrous, chef ATA, Enrico, Evan) were exceptional throughout my visit. Every interaction felt warm, attentive, and genuine. From breakfast service to evening cocktails, they consistently went above and beyond. The Club Lounge itself deserves special mention. It became my favorite place in the hotel—a comfortable and elegant space with a great atmosphere, excellent food and drinks, and a team that made guests feel genuinely welcome. That said, the room wasn’t perfect. For a Junior Suite 2901 & 3001 in a luxury hotel, I was surprised to find there was no bathtub. After a long day of travel, I was looking forward to relaxing with a soak, so the shower-only setup felt like a missed opportunity. The other issue was the lack of a proper work desk. As a blogger and digital nomad, having a comfortable workspace is important, and the room simply wasn’t designed with that in mind. Working from the coffee table wasn’t ideal, and I found myself using the Club Lounge whenever I needed to focus and get some writing done. Overall, I would still happily recommend The Westin Surabaya. The service, lounge experience, and elite recognition were all excellent, and they outweighed the room’s shortcomings. If you’re visiting for leisure, you’ll probably love it. If you’re planning to work extensively from your room or you’re someone who enjoys a long bath after a busy day, it’s worth keeping those limitations in mind. The gym is well-equipped and spacious, but rules need better enforcement. I frequently saw young children in slippers or swimwear handling weights despite clear signage on age limits and attire requirements. Providing sanitizing wipes would also be a welcome addition, as many guests did not clean equipment after use. Better supervision would enhance both safety and hygiene. 🍸 Sky Lounge boasts a beautiful setup and stunning views, but the atmosphere felt flat. Staff engagement was minimal, and the live band lacked energy, resulting in a rather forgettable experience. Would I stay again? Absolutely.
