Hôtel Dvořák

The breakfast buffet ran out quickly and there was only 1 staff member to refill it, but he couldn't handle it and we were left hungry. The room was tolerable, the bathroom less so; parking is very limited.

Definitely not up to the standard of a 4* hotel. I would compare the room to a worse hostel (see photos). The room smelled of cigarettes, broken light, stains on the carpet everywhere, dirty seats. I was really quite disgusted. Horrible experience. Never again. I don't understand how you can let someone sleep in that.

Large rooms, comfortable beds, central location with direct access to the square, sometimes it can be a bit noisy. Breakfast satisfactory. Close to the train station.

Really pityful, told us we can come earlier the room is ready then charged us 20e for coming early. Pathetic

What a shame about this hotel's potential. Let's start with the few positives. We had the renovated room, number 201. Everything was quite new and clean. Everything worked. We also got the parking space we had booked in the underground garage. Now for the negatives. The room door has no seal, so you can hear everything from the hallway; I initially thought we had left the door open. The bathroom lacks a shower screen or curtain, so it gets wet quickly. There's a whopping one hook in the bathroom! The TV doesn't have a single international channel. Room 201 faces the courtyard, and the windows are drafty, not to mention that. Starting Friday, there's an outdoor disco on the opposite rooftop, and the bass is so loud it reverberates throughout the entire building, making it impossible to get any peace and quiet. We're relatively young and can handle it, but when even the furniture rattles from the bass... The breakfast is spartan. The nice, mature older lady at reception was aware of the problems but felt helpless and told us that the disco had been a long-standing issue. Dvorak was only meant as a backup, and we visit České Budějovice three times a year. Absolutely not recommended.

The fact that the hotel has a garage is its only redeeming feature. The rooms are spacious but extremely noisy. We have a room facing the inner courtyard. Opposite is a rooftop disco that's so loud that sleep is impossible. It's a real deal-breaker; anyone looking for peace and quiet will be sorely disappointed, and the central location is of no use. Another downside is the check-in procedure. We booked through booking.com and then received an email from the hotel requesting online check-in, which we did. However, upon arrival, we still had to go through the entire check-in process, including handing over our passports. No one knows where our online data ended up. I cannot recommend this hotel.

I have to say, for the price of €46 per room (€23 per person for two), the hotel is better than expected. The room was clean (except for a few stains on the floor, but who cares?). The beds were very comfortable, hot water was no problem, check-in/out was quick and handled by a very nice young lady who explained everything important to us. And thanks to the central location, we were able to see everything we wanted to see. So I can definitely recommend it. 👍

When the whole hotel starts blaring commercials at 7am, forget about getting any sleep. If you find where to turn off the sound, it's no use to you. There's no one in the next room and you can hear all the noise from next door. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
