Hôtel Central Hannover

Good, central location. Otherwise, everything was fine.

My booking was from last year, now on marathon weekend there was no breakfast option available, room was okay, location central in the city center next to a pizzeria (my room had a window facing the pedestrian zone - so rather noisy due to the basic window fittings)

With some hotels, the low price is a red flag. This is one of those hotels. The receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional. The room's furnishings were quite flimsy. If you want to leave early in the morning, the reception is still closed. You have to leave your key in the door and exit the hotel through the back door. Nobody told me that.

Unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. When I entered the reception area, the lady serving was talking to a colleague and didn't seem particularly eager to approach me. I couldn't get two keys to a double room, the paper cups were apparently reusable. And, most importantly, the elevator wasn't working, something I've suspected for a long time. There was no information on how to enter the hotel after 10:00 PM—every little thing. I had to ask, and honestly, I felt uncomfortable in this hotel as such an unwanted guest. Unfortunately, the internet wasn't working, and in fact, there was no hotel network to connect to.

Excellent location at good prices. So far, so good. Definitely bring earplugs, because the noise level from the hotel alone is unbearable (constant banging and banging all night long!). The windows also offer very little insulation against temperature or sound; the latter is a real problem due to the proximity to the Market Church!

We booked two nights; the price was okay, and the central location in Hanover was a big plus. From the hotel, you can reach one of four (!) Rossmann stores on foot in a maximum of 8 minutes. The old town is easily accessible, as is the newer shopping area with the usual shops found in German city centers. Various restaurants, pubs, and bars are all within walking distance. Free parking is available behind the hotel in the courtyard for a few cars; the rest can (or must) use the parking garage a 5-minute walk away. Our room was on the top floor, the 5th floor. The elevator offers ample space for two adults plus luggage and is as old as the building itself. We used the modest staircase a few times because the elevator was quite temperamental and frequently refused to work, as the door wouldn't close... consequently, you couldn't call it. The room... well... the bed was okay, unfortunately a single, continuous mattress, which rocks when your partner turns over, but otherwise comfortable. The wardrobe in the room looks cheap and is about as well-made as the room itself – mediocre. Everything looks homemade, and often not very well done. There are holes in the walls, the antenna socket isn't secure, the shower hose leaks, there's no shelf in the bathroom, and the room is too small to put anything down, at least not for two people... and you certainly wouldn't want to put your rolling suitcase, which was just being wheeled through city streets, on the bed. The outside temperature was just above freezing. The radiator only got warm in the first 15 cm, and even then, very slowly. You're not supposed to sleep in a warm room anyway, but freezing in bed is no fun either. Meanwhile, the lobby was heated to almost 25 degrees Celsius, where the taciturn woman sits and barely reacts to anything. Greetings are overrated, apparently... In short: I won't be coming back. I'd rather spend €20 more per night and have a certain standard.

A solid, clean hotel. Quite suitable for business trips.

Very centrally located. The hallway and elevator could use a fresh coat of paint. The receptionist seemed bothered by our arrival. The room smelled of smoke even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. The shower head holder keeps turning itself.

Not recommended. We've stayed in hundreds of hotels, but this one is at the top of the list; we'll never book it again. It started with a broken elevator. Not a problem if you don't have to lug your suitcases up to the third floor. Only after asking did the receptionist say, "No, it's not possible. The technician will come tomorrow." I suspected this would be the joke of the day, and it was. No technician came the entire weekend. The room was tiny and not at all comfortable. The wardrobe was unusable; it was on the verge of collapse. Don't even touch it. So our things stayed in our suitcases. I don't want to be completely negative. The bed was good. The bathroom was fine. And it was clean. Points for that. In short, it wasn't for us. Especially since the price of almost €200 for the weekend, without breakfast (which wasn't even offered), isn't exactly cheap. They know they can make money from the good location. As a hotel owner, I'd be ashamed if I had a conscience. There was a really expensive Mercedes parked out front. That must have been him.

You get what you pay for

It's very noisy... You can hear everything... in the morning the cleaning lady was banging and banging... Disaster

The location is worth it.
