À propos de ce lieu Cassero LGBTQ+ Center

The Cassero LGBTQ+ Center is a singular institution in European queer history. Founded in 1982 — the same year as Amsterdam's Gay Games — it operated for its first decades literally inside Porta Saragozza, one of Bologna's twelve medieval city gates, a location charged with symbolism: the community occupying the city's own architecture. The Cassero moved to its current expanded premises at Via Don Minzoni in 2000, a purpose-built space that includes a bar, a 300-person disco floor, an events hall, offices for advocacy and counselling services, and the Cassero Cinema — a dedicated LGBT+ film screening programme that has been running continuously since 1985. The venue operates on a membership model (tessera Arcigay) costing a few euros per year, which provides access to all events and supports the centre's advocacy work. This is not a tourist bar — it is a living community institution with four decades of history. Cassero runs the annual Bologna Queer Festival and organises or co-organises Bologna Pride. Friday and Saturday nights are the disco evenings; other nights feature themed events, film screenings, readings and community meetings. The disco floor plays commercial house and pop with occasional themed nights (80s, Italian classics, international chart). The crowd is broad: students, long-term residents, visitors from across the region. The Cassero is the reason Bologna ranks consistently in the top five LGBTQ+-friendly cities in Italy despite its relatively small population.

Do not recommend. We bought tickets for a concert at Cassero, arrived an hour early, and still didn’t make it inside in time. The queue was insanely long, and having an Arcigay tessera made absolutely no difference. What made the experience even worse was the security staff — extremely rude and unprofessional, clearly unable to communicate respectfully with people. After missing the concert, we asked for a refund and were refused. Even after contacting them by email, they wouldn’t return the money. Very poor management overall.

We went to Cassero with friends after buying tickets for the Hachico concert, and it was a complete waste of time and money. The concert was scheduled for 1:00 am, and we arrived at midnight — one full hour in advance. All of us had valid Arcigay tessera cards. Despite that, we were forced to stand in line for more than two hours and completely missed the concert. The worst part is that they refused to refund the tickets, even though we never saw the concert at all. We literally paid just to stand in a queue. Later we contacted them by email, and again they refused to return the money. Totally unacceptable.

Terrible experience from start to finish. We came with friends for the Hachico concert, arrived at midnight for a 1:00 am show, all with Arcigay tessera. Still, we waited in line for over two hours and missed the concert completely. Cassero refused to refund the tickets, even though we didn’t see a single minute of the show. Later communication by email led nowhere — same refusal. Basically, we wasted our money just to stand in a queue. Long lines, rude and incompetent security, and zero respect for visitors. I wouldn’t advise anyone to go there.

The place is incredible for his own identity and line up parties 🎈 However,it’s a bit of a mess lately regarding the organization of some venues ,staff and security measures ! With some patience, suggested (we had so much fun during the last night there) you could enjoy your night but consider it is not the same as years back.. degrading copy of what was used to be

We went on a Wednesday night and the line to enter the club was insanely long. People were pushy the bouncers were not able to handle the rowdy crowd. This already gave us a bad feeling. I’m surprised to not see more reviews mentioning this. But as a heads up to anyone visiting the club not only do they not sell single entrance tickets forcing you to get a membership but in doing so they collect and store your name, date of birth, place of birth, nationality, and id number. When asked why they need this information they said they use it for statistic purposes to see who visits the club. We responded that we don’t want them to store our personal ID NUMBERS, and after waiting in line for an hour we were told sorry we can’t enter. We were told the privacy policy and security regarding the storage and use of this personally identifiable data could be found on the website but after checking multiple times it is nowhere to be found. They also make you sign a consent form in which you agree to data processing but is it really informed consent if you’re making drunk/stoned 20 year olds sign this waiver? Not only am I pretty sure that what they are doing is not in accordance with the GDPR (therefore highly illegal), I also cannot fathom for what reason a club needs to store this information, especially your id number. All of this information is enough for identity theft in certain countries in case of an inevitable data security breach!! Please take this as a word of caution for anyone thinking of visiting. Definitely not worth it.
