Hôtel Hippocampus

Lovely charming hotel however lacking curtains or shutters in the window which in such a densely populated /built up area felt problematic. The staff on the welcome desk were lovely however the breakfast waitress was not attentive,brought the wrong food, proceeded to argue about it: baffling. If visiting/overnighting in Kotor, be prepared for a lot of music late in to the night. To be fair, the receptionist warned us about the noise and we were prepared. We dined locally: loads of choice and lovely to be able to wander without cars in the city walls.

Fantastic location. Only very noisy outside until 1:00 AM; not bothersome for us though, because the location and the staff more than made up for it!

Extreme Rudeness We booked a dinner reservation and the receptionist begrudgingly accepted it. On arrival we explained and profusely apologies for being 45 mins late. The same receptionist very told us "yea your very late". And they close in 30 mins, which was 90 mins earlier than advertised. It was 100 percent my fault for being so late, the persient and extreme rudeness was unnecessary. I note the lobby was empty of customers. Maybe avoid?

Rooftop restaurant rating - food quality and service 10/10

As someone who travels a lot, I found that this hotel's historical character has been preserved while its interior comfort has been very well provided. It was clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were very satisfied and I would definitely recommend it.

Referred to watch sunset. View of roofs and glimpses of the hills across the bay. 14€ for a watery spritz and 10€ glasses of wine and little step. I did not visit for the food. I will leave that to another.

Our 3 night stay at this hotel in Kotor was an absolute disaster and a complete waste of money. The entire experience was a testament to false advertising and a shocking lack of care, crazy for a 4 star... The issues began from the moment we arrived. Despite being advertised as having a parking lot, there was none. We were told to park in a paid lot outside the old town, forcing us to wait in line for hours just to find a spot. This was a frustrating and terrible start to our trip. The room itself was an unbelievable disappointment. It bore no resemblance to the photos online; it was incredibly small and cramped, with barely enough room to walk. The noise was relentless, and we could hear everything from the hallway and other rooms and the clubs downstairs, making it impossible to relax. Staff were unhelpful and inconsistent, The total lack of amenities was a huge issue. We had no shampoo or shower gel, the breakfast kept lacking what advertised. This hotel had no redeeming qualities and was a complete rip-off. Having stayed in countless hotels, I can confidently say this was the worst experience I have ever had. I urge anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere; it's truly not a hotel worth choosing.

Disappointing for the price – not worth the 4-star rating I stayed at this hotel expecting to find 4-star service, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations, especially considering the price paid. Starting with the room: the bathroom doesn't even have a shower curtain, so every time you shower, half the floor gets flooded. After a shower, it feels like being in a swimming pool, with inevitable inconveniences. The minibar light stays on all night, and is surprisingly bright: an annoying detail that affects my sleep. Furthermore, from my room, I can hear a constant noise from the bar in the alley below, with loud music and commotion until 1 a.m. Even with the windows closed, the noise is noticeable, making it difficult to sleep. To complete the picture, the Wi-Fi works intermittently, is often slow, or doesn't connect at all, which is unacceptable in a hotel of this caliber. Breakfast was also a disappointment: the menu lists a "selection of jams," but for two consecutive days, only one flavor was available. There was no sign of Nutella, which was also absent for several days. The coffee arrived without sugar, and even after requesting it, I had to wait over ten minutes for it to be brought to me. In short, a long list of small (but numerous) shortcomings that, when added together, truly cast doubt on the quality of this establishment. I certainly won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a stay truly worthy of its advertised 4-star rating.
