't Sluisje

At 't Sluisje the drag queens are also your waitresses: the tiny canal-side restaurant on the Torensteeg has been serving three-course dinners with a show since 1995, and it remains one of the most reliably fun nights out in the centre. The formula is fixed and beloved — you book a seating, the queens serve, insult and serenade in equal measure, and by dessert the whole room is usually singing. Menus are simple Dutch-international; nobody comes for the food alone, but it holds its own. Book ahead, especially weekends — the room seats a few dozen at most. Great for birthdays and for introducing drag-show sceptics to the art form.
