We loved our moments with you, from the waitstaff and ambience through the 5 to 7 courses, each bringing out nuances worth lingering over. Thank you.

We had dinner for 4 at Apego. The meal was outstanding. All of us are picky eaters in our own ways but everyone enjoyed every bite! The restaurant is cozy and the service was excellent.

An evening with high expectations at Apeco unfortunately ended up being a big disappointment for several reasons. We chose the large menu with wine pairing for 153 euros per person. At that price, you expect a gastronomic experience at a high level – especially when the restaurant is mentioned in the Michelin guide, even though it has neither a star nor a Bib Gourmand. We were warmly welcomed and given a thorough introduction to the restaurant’s concept. The essence was that guests should feel at home and experience themselves as friends of the house and the staff. All the staff were presented by name on the menu. However, the idea seemed a bit artificial when the whole experience only lasted two hours. It is difficult to create a relationship with a place and its staff in such a short time, especially when you only meet the individual staff for a few minutes. The food was generally mediocre, and it was difficult to find a clear common thread between the dishes. The focus on local ingredients makes good sense, but that alone cannot elevate the experience. For example, one of the dishes was presented as a tarte tatin with tomato and cherries, but there was no caramelization, which is precisely what is characteristic of a tarte tatin. Therefore, the name seemed misleading. We were also served free-range chicken in two different servings. The quality was excellent, but the dishes were in no way memorable or something that made us want to return. In one serving, which included chicken skin, my companion found several long hairs. The staff explained that these were natural hairs from the chicken, but they looked very similar to human hair, which certainly did not give a good first impression. After a little dialogue, they offered to replace the dish, but by that time the appetite had disappeared. In addition, the guests are seated very closely, and the chairs are not particularly comfortable, which also does not contribute positively to the experience. Overall, we paid 306 euros for two people for an experience that did not live up to the price in several important parameters. The service was friendly, but that doesn't change the fact that the price-quality ratio simply doesn't add up in our opinion.

Great atmosphere and the best food. We were here 1 year ago and so happy Apego still going. This is top quality food and the chef is an artist with her food. If you are in Porto you must come to this awesome restaurant. UPDATE: last night we again made our annual pilgrimage to this amazing restaurant. We have now come here every year for last 7 years, it never disappoints.

This restaurant is severely overrated. We had the 7-course menu. The courses were served at a rapid pace. We didn't even have time to leisurely sip the paired wines. 2 of the 7 ‘wine pairings’ were completely off the mark. For 2 of the seven dishes, the flavor combinations made no sense at all. We were served chicken with 2 of the seven dishes, and for 2 dishes, the same cherries with the same marinade were used. At the beginning of the dinner, you get a nice introduction about how they work with local products, but this story fades quickly as the meal progresses. A positive note, however, is that 6 of the 7 wines were Portuguese. My advice: stay away until they regain their momentum, because this is not worthy of a Michelin mention.

This place should be packed and double its price. Quality is amazing. Food is thoughtful. Very reasonably priced. Attentive service. Would come all the time if I lived in Porto

There are menus that nourish the body. This one also nourished the soul!!! At Apego, each dish is a canvas and chef Aurora is the artist. I left enchanted and with a huge desire to return ❤️❤️

Que experiência divina no Apego! Do momento em que cruzamos a porta, fomos envolvidos por um abraço caloroso que só a chef Aurora Goy sabe dar. O staff, impecável, não nos serviu apenas comida – guiou-nos numa viagem, explicando cada prato com uma paixão contagiante que elevou ainda mais a refeição. E a comida... que explosão! A cada garfada, uma nova camada de sabores e texturas se revelava, num equilíbrio perfeito entre o requinte e a alma caseira. É daqueles lugares onde se come com os olhos, mas se sente com a alma. Sem dúvida, uma experiência a repetir (e a recomendar de olhos fechados). Uau é pouco!

Já tive a oportunidade de ir ao Apego mais do que uma vez e é tão bom ter a certeza de que a experiência será sempre maravilhosa. Tanto o que acontece na cozinha, como o que vemos e sentimos na sala, tornam-nos parte da casa a cada visita. Realço a criatividade dos pratos, os ingredientes simples transformados em sabores surpreendentes e o sorriso na cara de toda a equipa. Grata pela noite mágica!

We visited Apego and opted for the 7-course tasting menu with the wine pairing, hoping for a standout culinary experience. Unfortunately, we left feeling unfulfilled and felt the menu was severely unbalanced. The meal started off strong, we genuinely enjoyed the starters and thought they set a great tone. However, the momentum was lost during the main courses. The seafood course featured a sliver of monkfish, and the free-range chicken dish lacked depth and was limited on flavor. We were surprised there was no red meat in the offerings. Our biggest issue, however, was the pairing and the pacing. Five of the six wines served were whites that leaned far too sweet, which clashed with the dishes. To make matters worse, two of the seven courses were desserts. As diners who rarely eat sweets, the combination of two dessert courses and overly sweet wines made the entire back-half of the meal feel empty. Given we are in Porto, we would have preferred a port pairing with desert over a sparking wine. Overall, the progression felt off, and it simply didn't deliver the balance we expected.
