Alto de Santo Domingo / Artxanda (cruising)

The Alto de Santo Domingo, on the road climbing Monte Artxanda just north of the river, is Bilbao's best-known outdoor gay cruising spot, long referred to locally as the 'curva del amor'. Activity centres on the wooded pine areas off the roadside lay-by and is an after-dark affair. Local press has reported friction with nearby residents and some activity has dispersed, so be discreet, keep to the public areas, respect other users of the hillside and follow local law.
