Geneva Hostel

Don't go there, it's ugly, old and far too strict. The rooms are horrible.

You could write something like this, maintaining a balanced and helpful tone for other travelers: I stayed two nights in an eight-woman dorm and, overall, had a good experience. The room was very spacious, and both the hostel and the common areas were very clean and tidy. The staff was always very friendly and also spoke perfect Spanish, which was greatly appreciated. The location is also very good, close to the lake. It's a bit of a walk to the center, but the walk is totally worth it for the panoramic views. However, there are some things that I feel go against the essence of a hostel. For example, the kitchen is very small for the number of guests, and the refrigerators are rented, which is quite unusual. Also, the common areas aren't very welcoming: there's the reception area, but it's not comfortable to spend time there because you're very exposed and in full view of everyone. Another point for improvement is the atmosphere in the hallways. There were many school groups, and there was constant shouting and noise. In the kitchen, every time I went there were piles of dirty dishes, and the dining room, although very spacious, is quite far from that area. As for the room, I think because it was a women's room, there were no curtains over the beds, which made any movement by the other guests quite bothersome. We also encountered roommates who were constantly coming and going, opening rather noisy magnetic lockers, and carrying suitcases and packages around at all hours. The only thing they did carefully was close the main door… although that very fact caused it to open again on its own. Even so, for cleanliness, spaciousness, and the staff's attentiveness, I consider it a good option for a short stay in Geneva.

Friendly staff, comfortable, modern, and clean youth hostel ! Lockers are available with your access card. A small underground car park is available for securing bikes/bicycles. Conveniently close to the lake and botanical gardens. Tasty buffet breakfast included !

This was my first time staying in a hostel. It was much better than the expectations. Rooms are clean, bedsheets and duvet/pillow covers were provided. You can lent a towel for 3 CHF plus 10 CHF deposit which will be returned upon check-out. They will provide power adapters for free in case you require one. Breakfast spread was nice.

The room had no AC and so was very hot, even with the window open. The bed was not comfortable and the pillow was rock hard. I had a very hard time sleeping. The locker was outside the room which was an inconvenience. The staff were very friendly and they provide you with a free transit pass for the city. The location is good, close to the water, but in a not so nice neighborhood with lots of homeless and ugly brutalist style buildings. Ultimately I would not stay here again.

Clean and organized

The staff are wonderful, the cleanliness excellent. The breakfast is very good. An excellent accommodation option in Geneva.

The rooms were dirty, there was hardly any space, the food was bad, and the staff were unfriendly. The bathroom was very dirty and unhygienic, the toilets were covered in feces, and the showers didn’t get warm.
