Hôtel Amsterdam

So I’ve given this hotel three stars in total , two of the stars are for the location. it’s an excellent location for Brighton Pier, local bus services exploring the town centre. The One star is for the room. You do want to go by the pictures you see on the website as they are the original pictures when the hotel was new , Our room was absolutely disgusting , upon first looking yes it looked clean but once you start getting around the room there was years worth of dust under the bed on top of the picture frames behind the Tv round the radiator and the ceiling in the bathroom covered in black mould with the paint peeling off of it. The windows were the same black mould and black mould on the back of the curtains. Even the light fittings had an inch thick dust on top of it. I reported this to reception who were stunned , but said they would get a cleaner to sort it , upon arriving back that evening the room still hadn’t been done even though they insisted it had been. The owner came up to the room with me and I showed her the dust, she apologise and said the cleaners are unable to reach some areas and did the room herself although it still wasn’t to the cleanest of standards.

Stayed Thursday to Friday was perfect location staff were helpful and friendly as always, as stayed previously the sea view rooms are out of this world could do with two pillows per person instead of one but at prices it’s spot on love it there and will always be my go too, also very grateful of the luggage holding services so can book out but collect luggage later

PLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL‼️‼️‼️‼️ Absoulte waste of money and a waste of time!!!! The hotel was absolutely filthy I wouldn't let a dog sleep in it. The shower was broke, the sink taps wasn't working, the curtins in the hotel was ripped, the wadrobe door was hanging off so we couldnt even hang our clothes up tidy and the bed was so uncomfortable. After SEVERAL times of going down stairs to complain nobody was at reception to complain to in the end we just gave up. We only had one towel for the two nights between us both we didn't see one cleaner around🤢 And the cheek of it after sending photos of the current state we had to sleep in they refused to give us our money back!!!!!! AVOID AT All COSTS‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

When I went in to get a permit to park it was £15 for 24 hours. The man in reception was on his mobile on speaker phone and carried on the phone. Could check in at half 2. We were on the 2nd floor towards the back. The bathroom was a wet room and the shower was not very powerful to get soap off. Took ages to heat up then nearly took your skin off as the water was so hot.. The bed was clean. However a soft mattress so it was a bit.like a water bed, every time either me or my husband moved we'd wake the other up.. It's a bit dated in décor. But in a great location. Just needs a bit (a lot ) of tlc and attentive staff..

An amasing stay, made all the better by the fantastic Abanob. This guy goes above and beyond and made our stay exceptional.

We stayed for one night and my sibilings got bitten by something I don’t know what it was the toilet were really bad and it was so dirty and the blankets were really dirty and dusty.

Fantastic, spacious, and bright room with a splendid view of the sea! There's nothing better than waking up and having the sea right in front of you.... Plus, the location is incredibly convenient; you'll find shops and restaurants just minutes away! Total relaxation, stress-free, with everything at your fingertips! Friendly and friendly staff! I'll definitely be back!

Room is very small and we asked for the sea view expecting it as balcony but just got windows view ... disappointed

I recently stayed at this hotel in Brighton and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. Firstly, the balcony door in our room was broken, meaning we couldn’t open it at all. This was something we were looking forward to when booking, so it was frustrating to find it unusable. A few days prior to our stay, we were informed that the restaurant attached to the hotel would be closed due to restoration work. This was not mentioned at the time of booking, and it significantly impacted our plans, as one of the reasons we chose this hotel was for the convenience of having a restaurant on-site. To make matters worse, we were disturbed late at night by staff entering the room, claiming they believed a phone had been left there. We had been checked in and occupying the room since 2:30pm, and this incident occurred around 9pm. It was both unsettling and inappropriate, as it disrupted our privacy and sense of security. Overall, these issues made for a frustrating stay, and I would have expected better communication and respect for guests.

I had an extremely distressing experience during my stay in Room 22. The room was infested with bed bugs, which made the stay unbearable and completely unacceptable. When I raised the issue with management, I was met with rudeness and a complete lack of professionalism. I was told I would only receive a refund if I removed my Google review, something I felt pressured into doing while on the phone with them. After complying, I was then told to go through Booking.com instead, which felt misleading and dishonest. To make matters worse, I have received no responses to any of my follow-up emails. Environmental Health are now involved, and I strongly encourage the hotel to cooperate fully with them. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with accommodation. I would strongly advise others to avoid staying here. Booking.com have now been notified and I will update my review once refunded. Update - I have been refunded but have just recieved a call from management saying ‘as we agreed now you’ve been refunded remove your review. I absolutely will not remove my review they clearly don’t want people to know their hotel has bed bugs (read other reviews) Thank god I booked threw booking.com as I highly doubt your get a refund booking directly it really has been a nightmare. Please AVOID
