Grupo Gay da Bahia (GGB), founded on 29 February 1980 by anthropologist Luiz Mott, is the oldest active LGBT rights organisation in Brazil. Based in Salvador's Pelourinho, it is best known for compiling the country's annual statistics on anti-LGBT homicides, and it also runs HIV/AIDS prevention and anti-discrimination work and helps organise Salvador's Pride. GGB is a national reference point for LGBTQ+ advocacy and a cornerstone of the city's queer history.
