The location is perfect—within walking distance of all the sights in Old Quebec as well as many nearby restaurants. The staff are incredibly kind and very service-oriented. The rooms and en-suite bathroom are spacious, cozy, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. Our booking did not include breakfast, but we appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea available throughout the day

Overall 4/5 stars for Hôtel Le Germain Québec. The hotel itself is definitely on the older side, although the interior feels posh and upscale. The biggest highlight of our stay was absolutely the staff. Everyone was professional, kind, and genuinely tried their best to make us comfortable. Special shoutout to Mike and Valentina, who were always so friendly and accommodating. Any requests we had were fulfilled quickly and they really went above and beyond to help. The main reason for the missing star is more related to the building itself and upper management than the staff. The AC is not truly controllable from the room. Even when set lower, it barely worked and only blew very lightly. The room temperature would fluctuate between about 20.5°C and 23°C during the day, and would rarely get below 20°C overnight. We were initially placed in a room with direct sun exposure and lots of windows, which made the issue much worse. To their credit, they did move us to another room, although we were surprised we were not upgraded initially since the hotel seemed quite empty and we do have Visa Privilege status, which includes upgrades when available. We also experienced significant plumbing issues during the last two nights of our stay. Compensation was around $20 to $30, which felt a bit low considering the severity of the issue. In a 4 to 4.5 star luxury hotel, functioning AC and plumbing are pretty critical, so it was disappointing to deal with both during the stay. That said, there were still a lot of positives. The continental breakfast was excellent, and we loved that it could be delivered directly to the room. The lobby also has a really cute lounge/bar area with complimentary premium teas and a premium coffee/espresso machine, including non dairy options, which was a very nice touch. Overall, the rooms themselves felt somewhat tired and worn for the price point. There were black scuff marks on the walls, dusty window sills and blinds, and the blinds themselves were difficult to use. It did not fully feel worth the value overall, but the staff truly made up for many of the shortcomings. We would likely still come back because the service was genuinely excellent.
