Do not book at this hotel, because it will close at the end of January 2026. A deposit was already paid to this hotel to reserve some rooms and they are just giving me the runaround about refunding the money.

I had no problems with this hotel specifically, the rooms are nice, and the hotel is quiet, what is nice for who wants to escape the party places in Tulum, but I am very disappointed with Marriott/Ritz-Carlton and I won't be staying with them anywhere else in the world. First they are building a big hotel on the island of San Pedro in Belize that doesn't need the construction of more hotels, destroying more of the coast of this island. Then Ritz-Carlton built a resort in Maasai Mara National Game Reserve in Kenya where it faked the signatures of a tribe leader to have the permission to build in that land. To make it even worse they built what they called as Luxury safari camp in the middle of the path of the Great migration of the animals of Kenya, what will confuse them and will make them create different paths or always go through the hotel what will possibly be a risk for them and for the people. This hotel opened in August 2025, but should not even exist! This company is all about profit, they don't care about communities, environment, ecosystem, anything. Nobody should continue staying in hotels that couldn't care less about our future. Because that means that for them, you are just a number. I don't give money to companies that don't have values and moral.

We were very happy with our stay; the place was very quiet and well located. However, the rooms for four people were a bit impractical. The shower is open, so you don't have privacy to get ready, which is a problem that wastes a lot of time, and there isn't enough space for your clothes. It was a hassle getting invoices on time; the restaurant service never invoiced my purchases, and their billing website doesn't work. They promised to send my invoices, but I still haven't received them, and it's supposed to give you Marriott Bon Voyage points, but they haven't been credited yet. Aside from that, the decor, the tranquility, the cleanliness, and the spots were excellent. The pools were freezing. To be of the group and the hotel's standard, the pools should at least be heated. Even so, we were comfortable, but these are things they should improve. We had a room where we could hear everything from the hotel across the street, so sometimes we couldn't sleep.

I regretted redeeming 70,000 points for two nights for this Marriott hotel. It ain’t Marriott standard and it feels more like comfort inn. Wi-Fi is unstable and can be as slow as 500k! We had to ask for additional towels every night. The bath gel bottle was empty and the fridge didn’t work so we also had to ask for the replacement. One afternoon the elevator also didn’t work. This place has a maintenance problem. The service is ok though. The room cleanliness is just ok as we found previous guest hair in the bathroom.

I had really high hopes for Aloft since it was branded under the Marriot name and the prices were charged that way too. Some positives: - friendly front desk staff upon arrival - there's an extra cost but on site parking is available. There's also free parking opposite the hotel near the streets. - clean rooms - clean pool on the rooftop But unfortunately the negatives outweighed here for me: - no sound proofing in the rooms. We were constantly woken up by people talking outside our room at late night/ early morning - although new, some of the basic facilities aren't functioning. Eg. only one working elevator with the other one out of order throughout our stay - no soap provided in the bathroom (again something you'd expect from the Marriot brand). We asked room service and they gave it to us from the 2nd day of our stay. - filthy sunbeds in the roof area and broken pool table in the lobby - this is what really urged me to write the review: when we were checking in for our honeymoon we were offered a free desert on the rooftop. Which was really sweet and we really appreciated the gesture. We kept our bags, headed out and returned for a swim. The staff at the rooftop checked if we wanted anything and we informed them about the dessert and that we'd love to have it later in our stay. They said no problem. Day 3 of our stay after a meal out we headed back for the dessert to commemorate our trip and this is when the experience went downhill even more. The staff member (different from the previous one) had no information about the dessert add on, called front desk and then said it was only valid right after check in and was very blunt about it. We said we weren't informed that so clearly a miscommunication. Just put the whole gesture off - why offer something nice if you won't actually offer it or bother to be clear in communication about it. Just not enough value for money to stay here.

As a loyal Marriott guest, I was really disappointed with my stay at Aloft Tulum. The hotel shows a clear lack of upkeep and refurbishment. My room had a noticeable smell of moss, and the AC was leaking in the walkways, leaving visible stains on the carpets. The common areas were equally concerning, terraces are poorly maintained with wood furniture rotting away, the garden looks neglected, and the lobby feels dark and uninviting, with no real sense of welcome when you enter. For the price paid and the number of points required, this property is simply not worth it. The overall condition does not meet the expectations of a Marriott-branded hotel, and unfortunately, it reflects poorly on the brand itself. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and invests in proper maintenance and refurbishment.
