Hôtel Albuquerque at Old Town

Always a great place. We got married here 22 years ago. It's still just as nice, if not nicer. You get what you any for, if you want a beautiful spanish territorial feel. (Architecture)

We did a room block for a wedding in old town with Hotel Albuquerque and it was excellent. They are a well oiled machine. While we had some confusion about what rooms were included in the package, it didn’t present any problems. They were easy to get ahold of when we needed to make changes.

Great hotel and right in old town

It was great overall! Clean facility. Fantastic free coffee in the mornings. The only problem we had was our room keys kept getting “demagnetized” so we had to go all the way back down to the lobby and get new room keys every time this happened. It happened three times during our visit which was frustrating. Other than that it was a good experience. Very close to Old Town and has great entertainment and restaurant options in and around the property.

Conveniently Located near historic center and not to far from highway. A little outdated but big rooms and nice bathrooms.

Cool hotel. It had more character than your run of the mill chain hotels.

I’ve stayed at many hotels all over the world, and this shower was by far the worst. It felt like six children shooting squirt guns at me. The room was dated and sad: no artwork, bland décor, old furnishings, and rough, worn towels. I’m not exaggerating when I say you have to let the bathroom water run for a solid five minutes before it gets hot. Only one elevator was working. When we checked in, the front desk told us we could watch the sunset from our balcony, but they put us on the east side of the hotel. Overall, the room felt more like a Super 8 than a nice hotel. We ordered a cheeseburger from the restaurant and asked for it medium. When we got back to the room, it was burnt. The next morning, we went back to ask for a refund and were told we couldn’t get one until the restaurant manager came in later that day. I then went to the front desk, and they also said they couldn’t issue a refund, offer anything for the inconvenience, or provide any compensation. Overall, this hotel is a two-star property at best. The atmosphere around the hotel also felt sketchy, with homeless people wandering around nearby.

Hotel itself is a beautiful older building with a lot of character, but unfortunately the stay didn’t match the price we paid. Rates were clearly inflated because of events happening that weekend, and for what we received, it just wasn’t worth the cost. The renovations felt poorly done. The rooms are extremely small and difficult to move around in comfortably. The popcorn ceilings made the rooms feel dated, and the shower setup was frustrating — the shower heads are mounted very high while the water pressure was very low. That said, there were some positives. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and we slept well. The restaurant food was genuinely excellent, and the customer service from the staff was friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Valet service was also inconvenient. You have to specifically request assistance, and luggage carts were not brought to the rooms, which was surprising considering the price point of the hotel. Overall, while the building itself has charm and the staff was kind, the experience simply did not justify the premium pricing.

Let’s start with the pros! Gorgeous property with garden, hotel lobby is beautiful. Pool/hot tub was clean. Friendly staff and we enjoyed walking over to Sawmill Station. Cons. The rooms are pretty dated and we found the beds to be extremely uncomfortable.. To the point that we didn’t sleep well at all. Hotel needs to invest in bed upgrades.

Sone rooms are great. Some have balconies! Our room had no fresh air which normally wouldn't be a problem but read on. The heater emitted unpleasant musty odors that would dissipate over time but... The bathroom had a very thin door and opens directly into the bedroom. You don't want that: get a room where the bathroom opens into the entrance hall. Also the toilets are very short and their water levels in the toilet are very high leading to, um, unpleasant situations. The restaurant is really good (Garduno's) for all meals. Staff are friendly and helpful - offered to change our room if smell got too bad. Bathroom had 2 clothes hooks: I really don't understand why most hotels expect you to pile all of your clothes on the toilet when taking a shower, but this one was better than most with 2 hooks. They also surprise you with $25/day amenities fee on top of the already premium priced rooms. Overall an okay experience that could have been a lot better with a different room. Also the steel bed frame is about 5" outside the mattress, which can lead to bruised shins when accessing the tight corner to the bathroom, especially as the bathroom door handle in our room is on the wrong side of the door so you have to open it well over half way to get in and out. The room did have lots of counter space, 2 chairs, and 2 suitcase racks so a comparatively nice amount of room to unpack and get things sorted. Great walking access to OldTown and lots of Albuquerque sites, 15 minute drive to many others. Chaco hotel next door has a rooftop patio, bar and restaurant which is open to all to appreciate the views.

Great rooms and staff were very friendly. We did have some not so hot water. So unsure why the hot water on 9th floor wasn’t happening but overall. We’d come again. It was a great hotel close to all the things. The pool was nice tucked away so we had to ask where it was. The parking was easy and walking to the saw mill was perfect. Great hotel with great views. Walking to old town very do-able too.
