Equality Loudoun

I recently decided to get together with a former coworker, and after a little of bit back-and-forth, we decided to meet at City Tap. We met on the Wednesday the week before Christmas and One Loudoun was very busy. However, when we went in to the restaurant, we were immediately shown to some seats by the bar. The inside was cozy, but could’ve used just a little bit more light. Our server was extremely friendly and we decided to get a couple of appetizers to share. I also got the ginger basil margarita, which was very tasty. The appetizers we shared were the corn and crab hush puppies, and the Korean short rib tacos. The hush puppies were excellent and came with both citrus remoulade and honey thyme butter, both of which paired excellently with them. The tacos were pretty good. The meat was tender, the tortillas were soft and the slaw was fresh, but I couldn’t find the chili sauce anywhere. What they really needed was a crema or a cheese sauce to stop them from seeming dry. We were still hungry after we finished eating those so we decided to get the tartufo brick oven pizza. It was utterly delicious and I ended up with some of it to take home. The restaurant was really jumping by the time we departed. Overall, it was a good visit and with a few minor tweaks, could be great.

Overall, there was nothing wrong with the drinks themselves. There was nothing really awful about the service itself but I will say that other than taking our order our bartender (and honestly no one, our bartender or not,) came to check and see if we were good until we were ready to leave. Even then, once we got our check we never saw anyone again and just slipped out. Now to the main reason that I feel that I needed to post this review...as we were sitting there waiting on our drinks, My husband and I were talking and then he said, "Did you just see that??" I did not because I was facing him and what occurred happened behind me. He said that the soda gun had just fallen into the trash can. I was like "what?!" and turned to see that it actually had. A soda gun had, in fact, fallen into the trash can. Nothing happened. It stayed in the trash can. So my husband and I kept talking and he was watching employee after employee walk past that soda gun in the trash can. After a bit, I turned and started watching closer and saw the same until an employee began preparing a drink right next to the trash can with the soda gun in it...then it happened. The server or bartender (don't know who she was) just picked up the gun out of the trash can and made her drink before serving it. After watching this happen, my husband and I decided that we were done at this establishment and would go elsewhere for the remainder of our night. My advice is, if you are going to order a drink here, sit somewhere where you can see the soda guns and the trash cans...otherwise, you may be getting a flavor in your drink that you did not anticipate. Maybe this was an "off night" but considering all of the bartenders and employees who walked past that soda gun in the trash can and the woman who simply pulled the soda gun out of the trash can to make a drink, I would say that this is not a surprising occurrence.

Grabbed dinner one evening and overall was just unimpressed with the food. Our waiter was absolutely excellent but the food just failed to impress.

What a great place in a nice location. We made reservations since we went on a Saturday night, but did see some people just walking in or waiting to be seated. The menu has a lot of choices so was no trouble at all. A nice bar selection as well. The wait staff was very friendly and answered any question we had about the food selection, the service was quick and the food delicious!

We came here because we all wanted something a bit different, but the menu appeared to check everyone's boxes. We arrived and all ended up getting something different that just sounded better once we arrived. The food was delicious!! We all enjoyed what we ended up ordering and stuffed ourselves! This was definitely a nice little find during a fun girls weekend away.

The food was delicious, cool atmosphere, helpful waitress. We went for lunch had burgers, chicken sandwich, and a cubano. Everyone really enjoyed lunch. The brussel sprouts we really good:)

Food and service were incredibly average this place is more about the beer selection. We had a fried chicken sandwich and a pepperoni pizza for lunch and we frankly prefer these same items better next door at Matchbox.

We had a lovely late lunch/early dinner on a Saturday. Husband had a burger and fries, I had mussels (the version recommended by Doug - which was spot on). Portion size was perfect - quality over quantity - and for us "older diners" that is much appreciated. Enjoyed our beers, although the bar looked well-stocked. There were plenty of patrons, and yet the noise level was absolutely manageable. Plenty of TVs around the room with a variety of sports events - something for everyone. Doug was efficient and there when we needed him. We were sorry to see Hail and Hog leave, however City Tap appears to be a great replacement.
