Carmel Inn & Suites
Visitors often praise the friendly and welcoming staff, with some enjoying the charming, older decor and surprisingly updated bathrooms. However, many reviewers complain that the inn is dated, shabby, and in need of repairs, with some finding the rooms dirty and the pricing too high for the condition.

It has been a good experience with staff as well as the close proximity to restaurants and shops.
Although the location is within walking distance of the ocean and Ocean Avenue, the service is not friendly. The rooms smell. Bathroom is very small. The mattress springs pop, and the mattresses are old and slant. The doors slam, and heaven forbid you are below someone who paces all night long; you hear every footstep, keeping you up all night. The only good thing about it is the location, but there are alternatives nearby.
Low-key, comfortable accommodations convenient to shopping, restaurants, and all that Carmel has to offer! Harry and Sandy, the hotel’s receptionists, are friendly and helpful. Great value if you want a quiet location downtown. Advice: book DIRECTLY through the hotel. DO NOT book through an online site called “Guest Reservations” - they will overcharge you drastically - you’ll only discover this AFTER you’ve completed their online booking! Five Stars to Hotel staff for helping resolve the unfortunate issue with the scammer site “Guest Reservations”.
No breakfast is offered as stated on their website and on Google maps. 15 min walk to Carmel Beach. The most reasonably priced hotel in downtown Carmel, walkable to shops and restaurants.
An absolutely overpriced inn. It stands out not for its quality, service, or cleanliness, but solely for its location. Unfortunately, we also had a room on the lower floor. Thanks to the poor soundproofing of the motel complex, we felt like we were part of the family living above us.
What to say room for 150$ a night,we got located in a basement,it looked like,no natural light,dark....Furniture old, moisture on a bedding and pillows....We understand Carmel is for people on a good budget but than you need to follow standards of the place if you have this kind of prices......Place where you have Dior,Tiffany & CO,Rolex you expect that hospitallity is also on that level.I dont expect 150$ room for a night cashmir, gold, balcony and all that crap but at least normal room. Thanks, never again
Carmel Inn & Suites is our choice place to stay when visiting our favorite coastal town. So convenient to Ocean Blvd and charming as ever with their quaint antique decor.
