DoubleTree by Hilton Charleston Riverview

Arrived in the lobby to check in around 6:30pm. We stood there for 10-15mins and no one came to check us in. Finally we decided to check in on the app. No waters in the room even for diamond members. Breakfast the next morning the buffet was messy and missing several items. Even though our voucher said that we could order a made-to-order bfast, the server said “we’re not doing that today” I wanted to use the diamond credit to get some waters on check out. The front desk staff said you can only use the credit at the restaurant. Only hilton property I’ve encountered that works this way. Lots of stuff to address at this property from a management and staff standpoint. I’ll probably avoid it next time.

The property is very nice, very well, kept, we had a fire alarm this morning, and the staff seemed to just blow it off as not not a not a problem, they weren't very helpful in communicating to the whole hotel that it was not a fire. Then, there's no coffee station, so you have to pay for coffee. Also, there's not any indication that the breakfast isn't free or included in the room rate as with all other hotels Overall, very disappointing, I will not come back

Absolutely stunning hotel. Perfect location between folly beach and downtown. The front desk staff gave the best suggestions for things to do around town. Will stay again!

Nevermind the crumbs in my bed on arrival, the bug guts on the lamp, the dirty bathtub, or the water that refused to get hot. We can simply focus on the lovely surprise of what I thought was a crumb on the ground, that I had the displeasure of repeatedly stepping on, only to find that this crumb was in fact a decaying tooth. Now in a country where one medical bill could bankrupt you for life, let's imagine I punctured my foot with this bacteria ridden tooth and got sepsis. Think about the hospital bill, the IV antibiotics, the possible health complications. Needless to say, I won't be staying here again if I can help it. I'll let you decide if you think you should either. Oh, and let's not even mention the amount of money I spent for two nights of these wonderful surprises. The only reason for two stars and not one is because some staff members were really nice.

2 out of the 4 days we did not get room cleaned. One day we had to ask and they came and did it. 2nd day they never came to clean the room and we didn’t find out until we got home at 11pm. We had no hot water for one of the days. Room was obviously not vacuumed since we found debris by the bed that never got picked up. We spent a lot of money to stay here for four nights $300 per night approx. and this was a extremely disappointing experience. Would never stay here again or recommend to others.

If your looking for the typically Hilton or Double Tree experience this isn't the place. I've stayed here several weeks over the past 2 months and the inconsistency and lack of service drives me crazy and continues to decline week over week. I swear the staff makes up new rules with each stay. As a Diamond member you tend learn the standard policies as you sleep in their beds more than your own. Staff is a grab bag. Some of the front desk agents are pleasant while others are sitting in the lobby on their phones. This week I had a young lady check me in while she was on face time and the girl on the phone was eating a grilled cheese sandwich. She wasn't even trying to hide her prior conversation or end it. Not once was I welcomed as a diamond member nor offered my waters or perks. Housekeeping is lacking and I'm unsure what they do in my room. Bed wasn't made daily, coffee supplies weren't left, and towels were sometimes left. They removed coffee from the lobby this week which wouldn't be an issue if they stocked the coffee in the rooms. When I asked the staff why, I was informed "they wanted the guest to drink the coffee in their rooms." (FYI k cups are more expensive than brewed coffee.) The restaurant is lacking and undesirable. They were out of several items on their already slim menu on several attempts to eat there.

Do not stay here. They did not service our room. They did not pick up our garbage and no new towels. They said they were understaffed. The walls are paper thin and we heard our neighbors every night ( we stayed 3 nights). They allow dogs, which I was unaware of, and the dog across the hall barked all the time. I went down to the front desk to alert them to the issues day one, and the woman in front of me was complaining she had no hot water. This hotel is poorly run and a must skip.

Paper-thin walls and they literally make you walk downstairs pay for regular coffee ($3). None is provided in your room. Why dont they "cut costs" elsewhere in their budget?

Location is overall good and a short drive to most places in the area. Room good if you are staying for a night but doesn’t offer real space to store clothes for a family if you are here 3+ nights. The TV could use an upgrade to a smart TV. Customer service is NOT good. The employees (Front Desk) seem to not want to work or know anything about providing great customer service. They would rather just tell you something to brush you off. Also, lies to just get you off the phone. That part really needs improvement.

The room was clean and well decorated. The location is okay. No free breakfast is disappointing but coffee is free. The gym was clean. The pool is small. The speakers in the bathroom mirrors are great!
