Hôtel Chicago South Loop

Service was okay, one of the tv remotes didn't work, blankets were crunchy and rough (upon further inspection, they had burn marks all over from irons being set on them), fridge has never been defrosted (huge ice chunks), only 1 working ice machine on the 5th floor, 1 working elevator, the bathroom floor was not clean as it had chunks of things on it, AND I woke up after spending 2 nights there COVERED with red bumps and itching like crazy. I took pictures cuz I really hope I did not get them from this hotel and I hope I am not bringing home something... Other than that, the location was good....right next to the bus.

It was "okay" for just a place to crash but probably would not stay again if there was anything else available near the same price. For a while there were no working elevators, one set of emergency stairs we tried led to a locked first floor door, we could see on the other side it's an area of the hotel not in use, but in a real emergency we would have been trapped. The troms were damp, the hallways reaked of weed, and many rooms sounded like they had tons of people in them. It was very loud.

I loved my room just took forever to get coffee

We stayed here while my husband was in town for a business trip. It was a last minute trip and because of how large the event he attended was, there were slim pickings for hotels, which is why we chose this place. First off, the lobby looks like it was recently renovated, but if you are looking at the lobby alone to decide on your stay, I advise you to think twice. This place had almost zero amenities. There are a couple of microwaves and free coffee with powdered creamer in a lounge room, but that's where the perks end. Signs for a restaurant, a flower shop, and a salon are posted for all to see, but these don't exist and those areas are closed off. There is a gym, but we didn't visit it, so I can't speak to that. The elevators up to the rooms were a bit scary. There were a couple of times when they didn't work at all during our 2 night stay. As we were checking out, we looked at the inspection certificate and found that it was last due for inspection in 2020. Keep in mind our visit was May 2026. When getting out of the elevator onto the 3rd floor, an overwhelming scent of decades old cigarette smoke permeates the hall. The hotel room is very spacious, but you can tell they used up their entire renovation budget on the lobby and nothing else. There were stains on the door frame to the bathroom that looked like nicotine / tobacco stains, and the toilet seat looked as though it was once the same color as the toilet, but is now a dingy yellowish cream color. The bed linens were clean, and the towels, while mismatched, were also very clean. The tub was very tall and difficult to get into. I currently have a torn meniscus, so I was already at a disadvantage getting into the shower, but with the height and the tub being so slippery (but very clean, so that's a huge plus), I slid with my good leg in the tub and my bad leg outside of it, which left me with a massive bruise on my knee. The rooms have decent sized mini-fridges, but no microwaves, so if you bring food back to your room, you need to either risk the elevators or use the stairs, which give off a very creepy vibe, to heat up your leftovers. There are signs on the third floor directing you to vending machines that don't work. If you want a soda or bottled water, you need to purchase them at the main lobby. If its in the middle of the night or early in the morning, you may not have any options. We checked out at 3:30am and there was no one in sight at the front desk l. On the second night of our visit, we returned to our room to find our key wasn't working. After a day of walking miles at a food show, the last thing we wanted was to take the scary elevator back down to the lobby just to get back into our room. My husband's colleague had the same issue with his room key when he checked into the hotel, so electronic updates seem to be needed. One last thing to note to people who are driving there... there is a massive (and massive may be an understatement) pothole at the entrance to the hotel. We actually watched one Uber driver almost lose their bumper picking someone up. Overall, what staff we did encounter were nice, the housekeeping team does a amazing job with what they have to work with, and if you are strapped for a place to stay, it will do. Just don't have high expectations. Overall, the experience left a lot to be desired, especially knowing that the elevator is over 6 years overdue for an inspection! If you are looking for something that is ADA compliant, look somewhere else. You never know when those elevators will be working.

Worst hotel I have ever been to. We stayed for 5 nights. Requested room service for every day a couple times at the front desk, but we got it only once. Front desk, with exception of one lady, super unfriendly. We go here every year and it’s getting worse every single year…

We ended up paying over 400 dollars for the room somehow. A 100 dollar charge was added upon checking in. The night staff were rude and impatient. The room was smaller than expected and didn't offer what other cheaper hotels offered near by. The room did not feel clean or sanitary. The air was very dusty and stinky. Our allergies were very bad all night. Construction outside the hotel woke us up very early in the morning, way before check out time. Limited options in the area that are walking distance. Nearest convenient stores are about a 30 minute walk away. Room service food wait was over 2 hours.
