Hôtel High Country Motor Lodge - Flagstaff

This place doesn't look like much when you pull up to it off the highway, but once you step inside it's magical!! This was obviously once a lower-tier motel, but it has been restored into a hip oasis and it was such a fun stay! Everyone was super friendly and it felt like a low-key party the whole time we were there (in a fun, relaxing way). We could have sat sipping coffee by the outdoor fire pits all day! The Nordic Spa experience was also super fun! I am normally not a huge fan of saunas, but the HCML sauna was beautiful and very very clean. Pairing it with the cold plunge was also fun!

Such a cute place to stay! Every detail tied together beautifully, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

We stayed two nights here, and it was great. It is just outside of the main downtown (5 minute drive & 15 minute walk for us). The green space / patio was really great to hangout at and enjoy the cocktails! Floors are a little thin so you might hear bags above you rolling on the walkway, but that didn't really bother us. If you're worried about that, maybe request a second level room. Beds were very comfy and my fiancé absolutely loved the "aesthetic" of the rooms!

This hotel was charging up to $500/night the dates we wanted. It appears there was a baseball tournament for teen boys because they took up the majority of the lobby, fire pit, and bar. We stayed at the Doubletree but walked here for a drink after dinner. Super cute atmosphere. Bar tenders were excellent. Drinks were good but very expensive (like $20/piece - Vegas prices) its a cute place to visit and check out but for the prices they are charging I am glad I didn't stay here.

I’d give this place 2 stars at best. We actually booked this hotel because of a TikTok video that made it look like such a fun, relaxing getaway, but the reality was pretty disappointing. The biggest issue was all the hidden fees that only showed up after booking. Between the resort fee, amenity fee, lodging tax, and incidental charges, the final cost ended up way higher than expected. We paid almost $300 for one weekend night, which felt outrageous for what this place actually is especially when Sunday rates are around $90. It honestly feels like weekend price gouging. The property itself feels like an old motel that was lightly remodeled to look trendy. They added dark blue paint, black fixtures, flat screen TVs, and modern decor touches to distract from the fact that it’s still an older building underneath. The black towel holders, faucets, fridge, etc. don’t magically make it luxury. One of the most frustrating parts was the lack of a microwave anywhere accessible. We were traveling with kids and ended up having to buy our own microwave during the stay just to heat food for them, which is honestly crazy considering even basic motels usually provide one. They give you a kettle in the room like that somehow makes up for it. The amenities are overhyped too. The hot tub and outdoor pool are decent, but the “cold plunge” they advertise is basically just the same outdoor pool. Fire pits close at 10 PM even though that’s one of the main features they promote online, although oddly some were still left on afterward anyway. There’s also a restaurant on site, but the food wasn’t very good. Overall, this place charges luxury prices without delivering a luxury experience. I was honestly happy to be leaving by the end of the trip. This place is easier to stay in if you’ve activities planned & you’re here for a short stay.

Great vibe! Love the main space, restaurant/bar and shop. The fireplace outside was so fun we didn't bother to go into town at night. The rooms are nothing special but they are clean and comfy.

Lovely new boutique hotel and the perfect pitstop for what we needed. The interiors were thoughtfully designed, and the common gathering spaces felt warm and inviting. We especially loved the games, late-night lounge/cocktail area, and the outdoor fireplace — such a great place to congregate and unwind. The property is also beautiful during the daytime with a really peaceful perspective overall. The only downside was the self check-in process. It seems like they’re trying out a newer system, which caused a little confusion, especially regarding the sauna needing an appointment and an additional $50 fee. Thankfully, someone did come help us in the end, but we weren’t initially aware of those details. Overall though, it was a great stay for a great price, and we would absolutely come back again.

Disappointed would honestly be an understatement for this place. This hotel is absolutely NOT kid-friendly. Imagine traveling with children and realizing there’s no microwave in the room to heat food for them. I went to the front desk for help, and they were no help at all, just repeatedly saying there were no microwaves available. I even explained that I own a restaurant myself, and microwaves are a basic necessity in any kitchen. I was then directed to the kitchen staff, who told me they normally don’t allow outside food but would “help” because it was baby food. The problem is I have THREE children to feed: one baby and two toddlers who don’t just drink milk. We had actual meals for them! We even spent money at the restaurant onsite were the meals are from which honestly was not worth it, but despite that, they still refused to heat up anything besides milk. The worst part was when we tried to request a refund shortly after arriving because the accommodations clearly weren’t going to work for our family. The manager was unbelievably rude and informed us we would still be charged the full nightly rate even if we left almost immediately after checking in. I’m genuinely writing this in tears because this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. For the amount of money spent, the lack of compassion, customer service, and basic accommodations for families was shocking. Honestly, a Motel 6 would have been a far better experience than this place.

I am so incredibly upset and honestly more upset at myself for booking this place in the first place. We booked it in a rush, and it ended up being a terrible decision. The pictures online are extremely deceptive. In person, the place is unattractive, and the rooms honestly feel more like a run-down motel than an actual hotel. We booked through Priceline and unfortunately it was non-refundable & it didn’t have the trip protection. Then we arrived and were hit with hidden fees on top of everything else. And don’t even get me started on the rude front desk manager that was so unhelpful & won’t cancel the reservation with a refund. We ended up paying $400 for one night at a place this underwhelming and that honestly makes me so angry. Completely not worth the price!! I will never be back. This is terrible.
