The Brooklyn Hotel

I stayed at The Brooklyn on June 8, 2026 after being stranded overnight in New York due to a flight delay. After an already exhausting travel day, I was simply looking for a clean, comfortable place to sleep. Unfortunately, that is not what I found. The room appeared inadequately cleaned, with visibly dirty floors upon arrival. There were no towels in the room, and the toilet emitted a loud, high-pitched noise throughout the night. The sound was so disruptive that we ultimately shut off the water supply ourselves in order to get any sleep. What was most disappointing was the lack of assistance. The issues were never resolved, and the overall condition of the property raised concerns about maintenance and cleanliness. There was even visible trash on the floor of the lobby during our stay. For a one-night stay costing over $345, I expected significantly better. Every hotel can have occasional issues, but clean rooms, basic amenities, and responsive service should be the minimum standard. Based on my experience, I would not choose to stay here again. I wish I would have taken more pictures because this is unacceptable.

STAY AWAY. Worst hotel experience of my life, and I travel constantly. They had the audacity to charge full price to put me in a basement room (floor -1) with zero natural light, filthy bedding, a disgusting smell, and right next to the cleaning service area. It felt less like a hotel room and more like a storage closet they decided to rent out. When I went to the front desk to complain, which I did immediately — the receptionist was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered in hospitality. No apology, no solution, and a flat-out refusal to process a refund through Booking.com. Absolutely disgraceful. This hotel should be shut down. The rooms are outdated, the service is non-existent, and the management clearly does not care about guests whatsoever. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!!

The most unhelpful, couldn’t even deny that the bad reviews were untrue- DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

All 5 senses got attacked here. Smell: rotten. Eyes: hurt from having ti see the walls. Ears: hurt from the crooked elevator. Touch: pillows were bad. Taste: tapwater tasted like iron ore. I also got the added benefit of being forced to go down semi naked, during a shower because they didn't keep towels in my room and refused to bring it to my room. Honestly, stay in the street. Would be nicer.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!! When I first arrived the Gentleman took 15 min to check me in when I already booked online that off rip irritated me. I went to get ready for my event I went to try to shower why did I find a piece of wrapper in the shower?? With hair in the drain.. not to mention $100 fee damages I’m pretty sure these rooms aren’t being properly cleaned at all why is there hair in the bed I never laid in till 1am? The wall has a whole in it. The lady at the desk very much nasty & childish. Kept brushing me off & hung up the phone on the booking customer service. Very unprofessional & unsanitary DONT GO HERE THEY. DONT ACCOMMODATE YOUR NEEDS.

The absolute worst, most unsafe hotel anyone can imagine. We pre-paid via booking.com and forfeited about $600 rather than stay here. We booked a different hotel for the same nights in Park Slope. The door to the room we were given had been broken into. The deadbolt was broken and a part that was broken was still on the door. Management hadn’t even bothered to remove the broken part, never mind fixing it. Most of the photos posted for this hotel appear to be fakes. I posted 2, one of the front and one of our broken door after I removed the broken deadbolt lock.

Extremely disappointed in the service and quality here. Booked a one night stay and the room didn’t have any towels. Had to call housekeeping twice to get towels and still took an hour. Bathroom sink drain wasn’t working and housekeeping took almost an hour to come, only to make a mess and not be able to resolve the issue. I was so tired and exhausted at this point in the night, I just went to bed. In the morning, I called housekeeping again and check-out early after waiting a long time. The electric blinds didn’t work and the light was disruptive. Other guests were loud and noisy, which was especially disruptive to sleep given how much the noise travelled through the very thin walls. Choose another hotel in a better location and save yourself the headache. No partial or complete refund was offered for my disastrous and problematic 1 night stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

PLEASE DONT BOOK HERE, IVE NEVER IN MY LIFE BEEN IN NOTHING LIKE THIS I CHECKED OUT AND WENT TO THE HILTON, NO FACE TOWELS, DIRTY AND PAPERS ON THE DOOR FOR NUMBERS .... the front will confuse you.... YOU WILL LEAVE ITCHING

ONE OF THE DIRTIEST PLACES I'VE EVER STAYED. I booked this hotel sometime in 2025 when reviews appeared to be favorable. I stayed in this hotel for two nights, May 19th and May 20th of 2026. What I encountered should NEVER be allowed in the hospitality industry. Immediately when you walk in to check in, you are met with the staff members behind bullet proof glass. The girl who works in the daytime has a very hard to hear voice and shows 0 emotion. The pictures show the front is decorated which is NOT the case any longer - it's just dirty and deteriorating. The lobby is out of order - chairs everywhere, the bar wasn't open the entire time we were there, and they tour down the TV that was once there. The elevator is deteriorating like the rest of the building, and you can hear it each way up and down. My partner and I walked into the room, which at first appearance looked nice. Once you sat down and looked around, things just became more unhinged by the moment. - DUST covered everything. - The floor was nasty and had dirt, scraps of food wrappers, and food crumbs everywhere. It was clear the floor had not been vacuumed in days. - The hallway was also covered in grime, and had an added stickiness to it which you felt each time you took a step forward. - The large door to the bathroom was off its hinges so it could no longer slide shut. - The shower had visible black mold. Only a few of the water spouts had water come out. The rest were either clogged or just didn't work any longer. - Paint was pealing on the wall. - The couch in the room was covered with a cheap, ripped, couch cover that had stains on it. - Visible cigarette burns showed in various areas of the room. - They only gave us one pillow and one towel. I had specifically booked the hotel for two guests. We used the hotel to quickly get ready for the rest of our night, and asked the man working at the front desk to bring up a few pillows and towels, as we explained we only had one of each. When we returned, they had brought two towels up to the room, but no pillows. My partner went downstairs to ask the man once again for pillows. He told us they would be right up. 15 minutes passed and nothing. We called again and he said the same thing - they would be right up. Another 15 minutes - nothing. I called once more, and said we needed them because we wanted to go to bed soon - I was clear my partner did not have any pillows to use as we only had one supplied to us. I was told they would be right up - they never came. When we left the next day, I was very straightforward with the girl working at the front and let her know it's unacceptable that my partner had to sleep on a "decorative" pillow from the touch which smelled. She told me they would be right up - but I told her they already said that to us -she needed to make it a top priority for us as we've asked many times. Not one apology was given for their lack of service. Fortunately, when we came back they had given us two pillows however, both of them stunk and were stained. When we woke up the next day, we realized the sheets had moved around a bit while we were sleeping, and my partner slept on a giant brown stain that could have been anything. NEVER staying here again - I hope they shut this place down soon what a joke.
