Very disappointed in Marriott for this property… they ought to be ashamed of themselves. Trying to pass of an edgy, trendy, minimalist vibe but it really just seems cheap and like they cut corners. Hallways very eerie and dar seemed like a brothel, no room service- you have to grab towels out of a locker looking utility closet in the hallways. Rooms very small, paper print outs hanging up as decoration, no closet/wardrobe just hooks, gym small, horrible view, everything just bad. The lobby smelled nice but that was about it. Oh and the bathroom was decent will give them that but I checked out immediately and paid to stay elsewhere. The check in girl was nice but she is also the bartender and cook? Literally the only person there running the whole hotel I could not believe it.

I stayed here for a recent business trip. The pros are the staff. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and Liz is awesome. The cons: woof, that elevator situation. 100+ people in this hotel for the same trip with 1 working elevator was painful and caused severe traffic jams. The neighborhood. Rough, and I'm from St. Louis, so I know rough. Not a great experience when you have to run from your Uber to the hotel to avoid the street person running after you. Upkeep: TV didn't work. WiFi was wildly unreliable. Several rooms did not have AC and the ones that did were insanely loud. The common areas are run down. The staff does what they can with what they have to work with, but Marriott needs to do better.

Before booking, I specifically called to confirm they had Wi-Fi because I was traveling for work and needed it — and was told yes. When I arrived, the Wi-Fi didn’t work at all. I called the front desk about an hour later and was told it was still down, and by night it still hadn’t been fixed. I ended up having to go to a café just to get my work done, which completely defeated the purpose of booking this stay. On top of that, they placed me in a second-floor room where loud creaking sounds from the building’s tubing/pipes went on all night long, making it impossible to sleep. When I opened my curtains in the morning, my “high king” room view was literally just a wall of gray piping/tubes right outside the window. This stay was the opposite of restful or productive, and to make things worse, they even charged me for parking when I didn’t have a car. Truly awful experience — I would not recommend staying here.

Fun as hell. Rooms are decently sized. Bar could use some love, feels like it was out of everything when my friend stayed here. Daisy was fun to talk to.

This was honestly one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. 1. There was no hot water, so I had to shower in cold water. 2. Compared to other hotels, this one is in the shadiest area—it did not feel safe at all. 3. Parking costs $50 per night, same as most other hotels, but unlike others that offer valet, here you have to walk and wait for someone to open the gate for you. Very inconvenient. 4. The reception area is odd. Staff were literally on their cellphones the whole time and wouldn’t even acknowledge guests. They sit far from the door, so they can’t really see you when you arrive. The Asian lady in glasses was uncomfortably rude and unprofessional. 5. They claim breakfast is free, but a bagel was $10. Completely misleading. It may be run by Marriott, but my experience at the AC Hotel nearby was 1000% better. Moxy Oakland Uptown was a complete disappointment, and I will never stay here again.

Very friendly staff with a smooth check in. Giving 4 stars due to the smell of the room when i entered. Everything seemed clean but it had a weird smell. I didn’t alert staff because it wasn’t bad enough to change rooms but was notable.

Cute. Right on Broadway. Left something behind and they put it aside for me. Nice terrace, too!

Honestly I LOVED staying here in the Spring of 2024, great all-around; however now it's completely blocked-off, no availability? Marriott call center was no help: "it's Sold Out". Lolz i don't think so! Oh well

Horrendous. $47 USD per night for parking? And it’s not even on site, it’s across the street!? And The one security guard doesn’t even spend his time there, he waits inside the hotel? Horrible. This is criminal and I’m actually embarrassed on the hotel’s behalf for how bad this looks. I will never stay at a hotel in Oakland again because of this. Maybe even California. Not to mention how sketchy of a block the hotel is on. Crazy people screaming everywhere outside, not to mention the Taco Bell, who has permanently closed their dining room room because they don’t want Sketchy people walking into their restaurant anymore. The fact that this is a Marriott Bonvoy hotel is astonishing. It’s a reputation damaging hotel. Only stay here if you want to pay $47/night for parking, enjoy being worried for your safety crossing the street, and enjoy a hotel room about half the size that you are used to. I’ve never hated a hotel experience more in my life.

Almost three years later and this place is an upscale youth hostel at best. My tv was broken for the full 4 days, the elevators were both broken on my last night, and the fancy espresso machine behind the bar broken. The hotel has a very interesting mix of people staying here- I will passing on making a third trip to the moxy. I don't need my hotel to also be a hip nightclub. the staff is unhelpful, and the rooms are 'cozy'. This place over looks two parking lots and we saw numerous interesting folks on the street.... The valet even moved inside for safety. There are no coffee makers in the rooms and the lobby is super uncomfortable to do work. Not sure I would stay at another of this brand.
