Palm Springs Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence

The Palm Springs Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are the Coachella Valley chapter of the order of queer activists who dress as nuns in whiteface and elaborate makeup. The chapter dates from 2007 and works through fundraising, street presence and appearances at Palm Springs Pride and other community events. They report having given more than $100,000 to local causes, including scholarships, school supply and toy drives, immigration rights and animal welfare groups. There is no venue to visit; the address is a P.O. box. Check pssisters.org for upcoming events or ways to get involved.
