À propos de ce lieu Idlewild Park

Idlewild Park is a large city park on the Truckee River just west of downtown Reno, with a rose garden, ponds and walking paths. In the daytime it is used by families and joggers. The wooded western end near the river path has a long-standing reputation as an informal gay cruising area after dark. The park keeps normal city hours and gets regular foot traffic, so stay aware of who is around you. Nevada has no laws targeting LGBTQ+ people, but public-decency rules apply and police do patrol city parks. Go with a phone and leave valuables at home.

This is a very nice park along the Truckee River, just west of downtown. It is an extension of the Riverwalk area, a park that is not as widely known or as widely used. Some very nice landscaping here and the river is always interesting.

Idlewild Park is a little green oasis in the desert. There’s a pond, a beautiful (free) rose garden, workout equipment, a pool, and several playgrounds - including probably the nicest one in town - for the little ones. One of the nicer places to get outside in Reno!

Going up the River from the center of town you will find this extension of the Riverwalk park area. Nice to have so much park space along the great Truckee River.

This whole time I did not realize where this park was, I got it mixed up. Its in local neighbor hood and rivals the golden gate park ( smaller though) I can wait to go explore.

I chanced upon this pretty park as I drove away from downtown and searched the nearby residential neighborhoods. The park is out along the Truckee River and is a little wild, and that is a good thing. Nice spot just outside the center of town.

We went on a weekday afternoon. The trails are made for walkers and are separated for bikers. The park supports a rose garden, children's park, miniature train, and a par-course. There are many shade trees and two nice lakes.

ANOTHER superb, well-kept Reno park! Who knew Reno had so many green spaces?? Easy access to the river, an absolutely amazing rose garden and loads of recreational activities and facilities. Large enough you can spread out and get away from people.

This park is located at one end of the Riverwalk area away from downtown. We parked by Wingfield Park and walked along the river on First St. which turns into to River Rd. to Idlewild Park. It is a nice walk along the river and has nice flora and this park is off the beaten path so at the end of the walkway you cross the street/bridge and walk down the road a short distance to find this park. You can also drive to it if you are not into walking as it does having parking at the park. There is a large pond with a nice fountain and fish sculpture and loads of geese. The Truckee River runs along side of it but not easy access to the river from here. There is a small playground as well. It was not at all crowded with only a few people walking around. We did not see any restrooms at the park but across the street there is a playground and there were bathrooms there.

I used to live in Reno in the 80s & I always loved this park. So when I came back to the area to visit friends, I made it a point to return to Idlewild. It brought back great memories & is still picturesque near the Truckee River. I hope the Parks Department keeps it clean for many generations so more people can still enjoy it.

A good park in one of the city neighborhoods, nice to have this open space and lots of room for families.
