Wyndham Hotel

I travel a lot for work, and this is the worst hotel experience I've had in a very long time. No A/C, dirty room, no housekeeping, broken elevator, rude service. Absolutely nothing good to say. Avoid this place.

Let’s start off with we check in they tell us the ac is broke as we walk around this place various doors are out of order the pools closed and to top it off last night we attempted to get up to our room and got stuck in the elevator twice front desk employee told us to use the fire escape starts as the alarm wouldn’t sound. 0/10 experience I’ve stayed at motels nicer than this

The worst hotel experience ever. No AC for a week straight, staff was unhelpful and absent. Rooms were in disrepair with many things broken. Stay absolutely anywhere else if you can.

Had booked a king room and they weren't going to give us one. The room itself was dirty like it hadn't even been cleaned the shower was dirty, a hand towel had visible sauce on it, there were stains on everything. Then they charged me an extra $100 for the room, which was unrelated to the $100 deposit.

Please avoid booking a room in this hotel. Don’t waste your time and money for such a terrible stay and horrible customer service. My room does not have a working AC, mini fridge, or a microwave. The bathroom door does not lock either. Elevator is broken, windows are dirty, both the pool and gym are closed. Please book your stay somewhere else

So. This is fun. Immediately new something was off when i parked in the parking garage and there was a massive water leak from above that i had to tell the lady working the desk about. Next was the unforgivebale. I was already on ease with the long drive in and the leaking parking garage. I get to my room and its 83 degrees. I go to turn the temp down on the thermostat. There is a postcard hanging saying that their AC was out due to winter maintenance. I immediately packed my stuff and left. What an absolute joke.

I had a pleasant stay at Wyndham Rochester. The hotel has made noticeable improvements recently, and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and working hard to create a better guest experience. My room was clean and comfortable, and the location was convenient for downtown Rochester. It’s great to see the positive changes happening here, and I appreciate the effort the team is putting into the property. Looking forward to seeing this hotel continue to improve and succeed.

It is my understanding that the hotel has just reopened. This is the second time I have stayed here within two months, and I see significant improvements. The room was clean, and breakfast is offered for free since the hotel just reopened. One of the elevators was not working, but my room rate in downtown Rochester more than justified that small inconvenience.

Wow, this was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I am in no way a hotel snob and have stayed in some pretty rough places. But this was where I draw the line. The shower curtains had pee stains, the floor was not vacuumed, I heard hotel staff arguing in the hallway about cutting corners on the cleaning such as not changing sheets or towels, the elevator wasn’t working, the key sensors in the stairways weren’t consistently working, the toilet had gross black flakes covering the inside, and the room smelled badly of bleach. We are now staying at a lovely hotel that knows how to clean up towels and sheets. It’s funny how an experience like this can make you appreciate the bare minimum. We were here for a conference in town along with many other universities, and SO many people cancelled and found other hotels like us. This bad experience wasn’t just a one off thing. This was hotel-wide chaos. I’m sure the hotel knew about the conference everyone had booked for, and was not ready at all for the influx of guests. The line to check in was almost out the door, and when we attempted to talk to management and staff about fixing our experience, they were rude and unavailable. Do not stay at this hotel.

This place is terrible. Room was nasty, housekeeping was loudly arguing outside the room, and the management refused to help. They got our rooms wrong first, then when we got a new room it was still a complete mess. 0/10 do not stay here.

Upon check in I had Jasmine attending. she was super professional polished and very accommodating during our stay. However No ac, no pool, free breakfast was good, fitness center, the housekeeping there sucked! They super nice but horrible cleaning

I am very disappointed with my experience at Wyndham Rochester Downtown. We arrived at the hotel around 6:00 p.m., even though check-in was supposed to be at 3:00 p.m. When we arrived, we were told that our room was not ready and were asked to wait about 30–40 minutes. We were also promised that we would receive a call when the room was ready. After waiting for two hours without receiving any call, we went back to the reception desk. There was a long line, and only one receptionist was working. Our room was finally ready, but when we asked why we had not been called as promised, the receptionist refused to answer. She did not apologize or offer any explanation. I am not even talking about compensation. We were not offered anything, not even a bottle of water. We paid for the room but were unable to use it for several hours after the official check-in time. When we finally got to the room, there were no towels, and the sink was blocked. The next morning, there was again a long line at reception with only one receptionist working. After all of these issues, we still did not receive even a simple apology. Overall, we were very disappointed with the service, the lack of communication, and the condition of the room.

Downtown Rochester NY Wyndham DOESN'T HAVE AIR CONDITIONING as of 5/20/26. I arrived to a humid 80° room (4th floor) with a printed card above the thermostat, stating that their HVAC system is still on "winter settings" and telling guests to turn on the heating with fan instead of cooling. THE FAN WASN'T WORKING EITHER. The hotel made no attempt, either online or at check-in, to disclose that they lack climate control in guest rooms. Speaking of check-in, I completed the digital check-in ahead of time, only to wait at the desk for 15 minutes to receive my room key. The guy in front of me in line had received a downgraded room without notice or price correction, and the ladies I met in the single working elevator said their room had no working lights (?!) and the same lack of climate control. This is an old hotel, badly in need of a deep clean, renovation, or a wrecking ball. My room had dingy carpeting, bird shit smeared on the windows, and a stifling hot bathroom with no hand towels and no bath mat. The whole 4th floor had an unpleasant odor that I didn't stick around to identify. I cancelled my reservation on the spot (still waiting the next day for my refund and the $100 hold to clear), and will certainly never book there again. This was my first experience with the Wyndham brand, and my first time ever walking out on a hotel reservation. I selected this Wyndham for location, advertised amenities, and price, in that order; seems like their business model is to take advantage of people who can't afford to cancel and rebook elsewhere once they see what they've gotten themselves into.
