Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort

We accidentally left our AirPods in the room after checking out. I contacted the hotel shortly afterward to provide the exact location alongside my room number, as the devices were clearly still on the property according to the Find My app. Staff instructed me to submit a standard lost item form. I received a notification two days later asserting they weren't found. Curiously, my app now tracks the AirPods to a residential address in Norfolk. I escalated the situation to both local management and Marriott corporate, resulting in a dismissive response citing their policy against liability for lost or stolen items. They suggested filing a police report since the devices had left the property. I contacted the local authorities, who frankly confirmed there was little they could do. Property management remained completely rude and unapologetic about what strongly appears to be theft. A pipe also burst during our stay, leaving the building without running water for an extended period. I recognize unexpected issues happen and was perfectly willing to chalk the plumbing failure up to bad luck. Combining that infrastructural inconvenience with stolen property and terrible customer service creates an incredibly disappointing experience for a Platinum Elite member. An incident like this should simply never happen at a hotel of this caliber. Keep a close eye on your belongings if you decide to stay here.

I was excited to be at this hotel for a conference but was highly disappointed. The hotel lost water for 6 hours with no notice from management at all - no water and no flushing toilets. Service at both restaurants was abismal so we decided to eat out. The elevators are slow, dark, and the key to use them barely ever works. The housekeeping staff is exceptionally friendly though and unfortunately has to answer for the loss of running water. I suggest staying at a different hotel.

I’ve been staying here since it’s opened and love the views and the rooms. This year I had a bit of an upsetting incident on the way in and was a bit frazzled when I finally got through the front door guy. Valet was SO welcoming and then Nolan and Clinton at the front desk calmed me right down and put me at easy almost instantly. Thank yall for turning my day around! And shout out to Hannah at the bar, her energy is unmatched. I can’t wait to come back and get a lemonade for my little one!

I NEVER LEAVE REVIEWS!!! We are currently awaiting the outcome of an open case with Marriott regarding our recent stay before deciding whether to update this review. How this situation is ultimately handled will speak volumes about Marriott’s commitment to customer service. Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. We requested an early check-in, but instead weren’t able to check in until after the normal 4:00 p.m. check-in time. We were charged nearly double what a beach cabana cost after being provided the pricing per the price sheet at the pool, along with an unexpected fee for adjoining rooms that was never disclosed during booking. We were also told that we would be allowed into the Cavalier Beach club, which that’s not true either. You have to stay at the Cavalier to access that. Throughout our stay, we encountered broken ice machines, elevators that were frequently out of service, and room keys that only worked about half the time. While maintenance issues can happen, what was far more disappointing was the way they were handled. The customer service was, without question, some of the poorest our group has ever experienced. Several staff members were dismissive, rude, and made us feel as though our concerns were being minimized rather than addressed. Instead of genuine hospitality, we often felt like we were being inconvenienced simply by asking reasonable questions. The one bright spot was Orion’s rooftop restaurant. The food was excellent, and Nolan provided exceptional service. He was kind, attentive, and reminded us what true hospitality should look like. He deserves recognition for the outstanding job he did. There were six of us traveling together, and sadly every single person walked away saying they would think twice before staying at another Marriott Bonvoy resort based on this experience alone. That’s incredibly disappointing because we expected much more from a Marriott property. We’re hopeful Marriott will review our case thoughtfully and make things right. We’ll update this review once we’ve received their final response.

Great place but kinda gone down

Love this spot... we rotate between this Marriott and the Embassy Suites directly beside. Both are owned by the same group! We'll maintained.

My stay was excellent, customer service top notch and my valet Brian Jackson was AWESOME! He was extremely kind, considerate, professional in taking care of all my valet needs.

The service was top notch. Angelina was great at the pool and a nice lady. See you soon.

One of the best hotels in Virginia Beach I have stayed at! Everything is so nice and clean. The rooms are very modern and kept up well. The access to the different bars/restaurants as well as the multiple pools make this a great resort to stay at that doesn’t even make you feel like you are in Virginia Beach!

Very very disappointed. I brought my family out and spent and pretty penny. The pool door is broke and the grounds crew is lazy and dont like to work. They will not turn on the fireplace outside even with no chance of rain. Its sad I have been coming to this place since its been built and its not going in the right direction.
