Strasbourg sounds like trams. They glide almost silently past the pink sandstone of the cathedral, ring their bells across the bridges of the Ill, and in winter carry crowds wrapped in scarves towards the smell of cinnamon and vin chaud. Behind the half-timbered postcards, the city's cruising scene is small, indoor and mostly daytime. There is one cruise club, Antr'acte, sharing a building with Drak Sauna on rue Moll, a long-standing men's sauna near the station, and a gay-and-mixed club sauna that stays open late. Several of these have mixed days open to everyone, so the day of the week matters more here than in most cities. Here is what was running in 2026.
Legal in one line: France decriminalised sex between men in 1791 and opened marriage and adoption to same-sex couples in 2013. Cruise clubs and saunas are legal private venues for adults. Sex in public is a different matter: see the box on the law and safety below.
How cruising works in Strasbourg
Most of it starts on the apps, and the indoor venues fill the gaps. The key thing to know is the timetable. Antr'acte and Drak close at 21:00 on most days, and Sauna Equateur closes at 21:00 too, so this is an afternoon and early-evening scene. Only Oxydo runs past midnight. Two venues also split their week between men-only and mixed days, when women, couples and men of any orientation are welcome. Check the day before you go, and carry ID: venues are 18+ and youth rates need proof of age.
The cruise club
Antr'acte (Le Complex) · 2A rue Moll
Antr'acte is the cruise club half of Le Complex, the building it shares with Drak Sauna. Travel Gay describes it as Strasbourg's only gay cruise and fetish club. Its own website describes a discreet, secure, air-conditioned venue with a video room with a big screen, a labyrinth, glory holes, slings and private cabins, a corner for hot and cold drinks, and a small shop selling toys, lube and accessories. AgendaQ, the French gay fetish agenda, adds a smoking room, showers and lockers.
- Hours (official): Monday to Thursday 12:00–21:00, Friday and Saturday 14:00–21:00, Sunday 15:00–20:00 for the club. Older listings with late-night hours and weekly underwear and blackout parties are out of date.
- Sundays: AgendaQ lists the Sunday afternoon session as a naked sex party.
- Prices: AgendaQ lists €14, €9 for under-30s, €6 for under-26s, €18 for a duo and €95 for ten entries. One sauna directory gives €22 for a combined ticket to Drak Sauna and the club. Ask at the desk.
- Mixed days: Le Complex says its Monday, Wednesday and Friday sessions are mixed, open to "all tendencies". For a men-only visit, go on another day.
- Contact: +33 3 88 32 61 86, antracte@antracte.fr.
- Parc de l'Orangerie: a large public park north-east of the centre, near the European institutions, with a lake and wooded paths.
- Parc de la Citadelle: a public park laid out on the site of Vauban's 17th-century citadel, east of the centre towards the port.
- The law: under Article 222-32 of the French Code pénal, exhibition sexuelle (sexual exhibition) imposed on others in a place visible to the public is punishable by one year in prison and a €15,000 fine. Parks, riverbanks and car parks all count as public places.
- Across the Rhine: in Kehl the German rule applies: under §183a StGB, sexual acts in public that deliberately or knowingly cause offence can bring a fine or up to a year in prison.
- Theft: quiet paths after dark are where thieves look for people who won't go to the police. Carry only your phone, one card and a little cash, and don't follow anyone into a dark corner.
- Police: if police approach you, stay calm, be polite and show ID. Always carry a passport or ID card in France.
- App dates: meet first in a bar or café, tell a friend where you're going and share your location.
- Emergency: call 112 (police 17, ambulance 15).
- Getting around: the CTS trams and buses cover the whole city and reach Kehl. Trams don't run all night, so check the last departure in the CTS app if you're at Oxydo late, and plan a taxi or ride-hailing car.
- Timing: afternoons are the main session. Antr'acte, Drak and Equateur all close by 21:00.
- Mixed days: Le Complex is mixed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Oxydo's programme changes by day. Check before you go.
- Youth rates: under-26 and under-30 prices are common. Bring official photo ID; a photo on your phone may not be accepted.
- Lockers and phones: use the locker, keep the key on your wrist, and no photos inside, ever.
- Consent: non is enough, in any room, at any time.
- PEP: after a risk, French health guidance says to start post-exposure treatment (TPE) ideally within 4 hours and no later than 48 hours. Go to the urgences (emergency department) of the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Strasbourg, or to a CeGIDD, the free sexual health centres; the COREVIH Grand Est website has a map of them.
- PrEP: PrEP is widely available in France through CeGIDDs and doctors. If you use it, bring your own supply.
- Chems: if GHB/GBL is around, never mix it with alcohol and never dose for someone else. Call 15 in an emergency.
- Bonjour – hello (always say it at reception). Merci – thank you.
- C'est combien, l'entrée ? – how much is entry?
- Journée mixte – mixed day. Journée hommes – men's day.
- Tarif jeune / moins de 26 ans – youth rate / under 26. Pièce d'identité – ID.
- Casier – locker. Serviette – towel. Cabine – cabin.
- Non, merci – no, thanks. Always enough.
- Hopla ! – the all-purpose Alsatian "come on!" or "there you go".
- Winstub – Alsatian wine tavern. Vin chaud – mulled wine.
- German: Wie viel kostet der Eintritt? – how much is entry? Nein, danke – no, thanks.
The saunas
All three saunas have darkrooms or cabins, so cruising is part of the visit. The full list is on our Strasbourg saunas page.
Drak Sauna · 2A rue Moll
The sauna half of Le Complex, on two floors. Listings describe a Finnish sauna, a hammam, a cold bath, darkrooms, cabins and a bar with snacks. Its official hours match the club's, except on Sunday, when the sauna opens at 14:00. A sauna directory lists men-only days on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and mixed days on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with entry at €19. Spartacus lists €17, and €10 for under-26s. Prices vary between listings, so check at the door.
Sauna Equateur · 5 rue de Rosheim
misterb&b calls Equateur the city's historic gay sauna: about 200 m² on the first floor of an old building, a few minutes' walk from the railway station, with a calm, discreet atmosphere. Reviewers mention a hammam, a labyrinth and rest areas, and say the hammam is where things happen. Directory listings give Monday to Friday 12:00–21:00 and weekends 14:00–21:00. We couldn't find a published price; phone +33 3 88 22 25 22.
Oxydo · 3 Place Clément
The late one. Oxydo calls itself a gay and mixed club sauna, with a bar, a sauna and a hammam, and GayTravelr notes that it is not exclusively gay, with some straight and mixed days. A swingers' guide updated in November 2026 lists opening every day until 01:30, from 14:00 on Thursdays and Sundays and from 18:00 on other days. That listing gives a reduced €10 rate for men aged 18–25 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and couples' and women's prices on the other days, which suggests which nights suit gay men. Full prices range from €20 to €30. Check the programme on its website or phone +33 3 88 16 07 70 before you go.
Sex shops and cinemas
We couldn't confirm any adult cinema or sex shop with video cabins operating in Strasbourg in 2026. Antr'acte has its own video room and a small shop, and for toys and gear there is the city's Love Store listing.
The parks
Two of Strasbourg's parks have long reputations as evening cruising areas. We couldn't confirm how active either is today, and by day both are busy public parks used by families, joggers and tourists.
The law and your safety:
Before and after: bars and community
None of the bars are cruise bars, but they're where the evening goes once the club closes at 21:00. See our Strasbourg bars guide for the current list. La Station, the LGBTI centre for Alsace, is the place to ask about health services and what's on.
Christmas market season
The Christkindelsmärik, which the city dates back to 1570, runs from 27 November to 24 December 2026, according to the city's official Christmas site. The centre is largely pedestrian during the market, and German-language travel guides advise against driving onto the Grande Île in December. Use the tram: the city's Park & Ride car parks cost €4.20 a day, with tram tickets for everyone in the car included. Expect the city to be very busy at weekends, so book a room early. The saunas and the club keep their usual hours, which makes a warm afternoon at Equateur or Drak a good break from the cold.
Kehl, across the Rhine
Germany is one tram ride away: line D crosses the Rhine to Kehl, and German guides put Kehl station about 15 minutes from the centre. Many visitors from Baden come the other way for the Christmas market. If you cross over, remember that German law applies on the other bank (see the box above).
A Strasbourg afternoon, the local way
Start in a winstub, the cosy Alsatian wine tavern with wood panelling and checked tablecloths. Order a tarte flambée (flammekueche), a thin crust with cream, onions and bacon, or a plate of choucroute garnie, sauerkraut with sausages and pork. Drink a glass of dry Riesling or a local beer. Walk it off through the half-timbered lanes of Petite France, then head to the sauna in the slow hours after lunch. In December, nibble bredele, the little Christmas biscuits, with a cup of vin chaud on the way back.
Practical tips
Pride: the Marche des Visibilités
Strasbourg's Pride is called the Marche des Visibilités, organised by the association FestiQueer (formerly FestiGays). The 24th edition took place on Saturday 20 June 2026 under the slogan « Être soi est un droit » (being yourself is a right). It began with a community village on Place de l'Université from 11:00. The march looped along the quays, through the Grandes Arcades, Place Kléber, Place Broglie, Place de la République and Avenue de la Liberté before returning to its starting point. Local magazine Pokaa expected up to 20,000 people. The Nuit des FestiQueer party at Studio Saglio ran until the early hours of Sunday 21 June and closed the Mois des Visibilités, which had begun on 17 May. The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing; check festiqueer.fr and our Strasbourg Pride page.

Frequently asked questions
Where is gay cruising in Strasbourg?
Mostly indoors. Antr'acte at 2A rue Moll is the city's cruise club, with a maze, glory holes, slings and cabins, and it shares a building with Drak Sauna. Sauna Equateur near the station and Oxydo on Place Clément are the other saunas, and most men also use the apps.
What are Antr'acte's opening hours and prices?
Its website gives Monday to Thursday 12:00–21:00, Friday and Saturday 14:00–21:00 and Sunday 15:00–20:00 for the club. AgendaQ lists entry at €14, with €9 for under-30s and €6 for under-26s. Monday, Wednesday and Friday are mixed days open to all, so phone +33 3 88 32 61 86 if you want a men-only visit.
Are there gay saunas in Strasbourg?
Yes. Sauna Equateur at 5 rue de Rosheim is the long-standing men's sauna, a few minutes from the station. Drak Sauna at 2A rue Moll has men-only and mixed days, and Oxydo at 3 Place Clément is a gay and mixed club sauna open into the night, with some days aimed at couples.
Is outdoor cruising legal in Strasbourg?
Being gay in a park is legal; sex in public is not. Under Article 222-32 of the French Code pénal, sexual exhibition imposed on others in a place visible to the public carries up to one year in prison and a €15,000 fine. Theft is the bigger everyday risk, so the club and saunas are the safer choice.
When was Strasbourg Pride in 2026?
The 24th Marche des Visibilités took place on Saturday 20 June 2026 under the slogan Être soi est un droit, starting from Place de l'Université at 11:00. The Nuit des FestiQueer party at Studio Saglio followed that night. The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing.
