Gay Varsavia 2026

The honest summary: Warsaw has Poland's biggest gay scene, but it is small for a capital of 1.87 million people and there is no gay district. You get a handful of gay clubs and bars in the city centre, led by La Pose, Glam, Metropolis and Crush, plus a cruise bar, Instytut, and three gay saunas within walking distance of each other. The Equality Parade in June is the biggest Pride in Central Europe. The city government is openly supportive; national law is not.

Where the scene actually is

Everything that matters is in Śródmieście, the city centre, and on its western edge around Rondo ONZ. There are three loose clusters. South of the centre, around Plac Zbawiciela and Wilcza, Żurawia and Widok streets, you have Lodi Dodi, Glam, Ramona and the Lambda office. Near Nowy Świat, Mazowiecka and Sienkiewicza hold La Pose, Metropolis and the mainstream clubs Luzztro and Jasna 1. To the west, around Rondo ONZ and Hala Mirowska, are Instytut, the three saunas and Crush. All three clusters are within 20 to 25 minutes of each other on foot.

Powiśle (by the river) and Praga (across it) come up in a couple of guides as alternative, younger and queer-friendly. That describes the crowd in some mainstream bars there; there are no gay venues in either district at the moment. Bunkier, the Praga cruise club, has closed.

Bars and clubs

La Pose (Mazowiecka 6/8) is the strongest venue right now: a restaurant and cocktail bar by day and a queer club and stage at night, with drag, ballroom, burlesque and karaoke across three floors. Its own site calls it a space "from queer for queer". Check lapose.pl for the night's programme.

Glam (Żurawia 22, now signed Glam 2.0) has been running since 2010. Travel Gay lists it as open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 22:00 to 06:00, with pop, drag on Fridays and a young crowd. Metropolis (Sienkiewicza 7) is a gay club with two dance floors, open on Friday and Saturday from 23:00 to 06:00. Crush, in the basement of Hala Mirowska, took over the space of Galeria, one of Warsaw's oldest gay clubs, and runs karaoke, drag and weekend parties; it has little online presence, so check its social media first.

For a drink rather than a dance floor, Lodi Dodi (Wilcza 23) is a small gay cocktail bar built around a single counter, and Ramona (Widok 18) is a gay-friendly café-bar with retro decor and a mixed crowd; Travel Gay gives it hours of 16:00 to 02:00, and to 04:00 at weekends. When the gay clubs close, many people move on to Luzztro, the after-hours techno club at Aleje Jerozolimskie 6. It is mainstream but gay-friendly. Jasna 1, also mainstream, hosts some nights run by queer collectives.

Saunas and cruising

Warsaw has three gay saunas. The Fire (Twarda 44) is the largest at about 380 m², men-only, with a jacuzzi and a weekend afterparty slot from 04:00 to 08:00. Heaven (Waliców 13) is open non-stop from Friday to Sunday, opened a new steam room in October 2026 and has a mixed Bi Day once a week. Galla (Ptasia 2) has been running since 1997, is men-only from Monday to Saturday and mixed on Sundays, and charges 55 to 60 zł, or 35 zł after 20:00.

Instytut (Prosta 2/14) is the city's cruise bar, with a darkroom of about 200 m² and theme nights. It opens at 19:00 every day; entry is 35 zł (30 zł under 25) and a combined ticket with Heaven costs 70 zł. Bizarriusz, an adult cinema near Plac Zbawiciela, is open to everyone and popular with gay men. For gear, ReFForm, Poland's first gay and fetish shop, has a store in the same building as Instytut.

Public sex can be prosecuted in Poland as "indecent behaviour" under Article 140 of the Code of Petty Offences, with a fine of up to 1,500 zł or short arrest. Keep it to the venues. We don't list outdoor cruising areas in Warsaw: the only sources we found were years old. The naturist beaches on the Vistula are general naturist spots, not gay ones.

Community, culture and health

QueerMuzeum (Marszałkowska 83) has a permanent exhibition on LGBTQ+ history in Poland and runs talks and guided tours most weeks. Lambda Warszawa (Żurawia 24a) runs a helpline, counselling and support groups. National groups based in Warsaw include Kampania Przeciw Homofobii, Miłość Nie Wyklucza and the trans rights foundation Trans-Fuzja. Free, anonymous HIV testing is available at the SKA testing point on Chmielna, among other places; check opening days online. Bears of Poland hold regular Bears Day nights at Instytut.

Pride and events

The Parada Równości (Equality Parade) has been held since 2001. The 2026 parade, on Saturday 13 June, marked 25 years with the slogan "25 lat dumy i buntu" (25 years of pride and rebellion). It started at 14:00 from the Equality Village in Park Świętokrzyski, next to the Palace of Culture, and looped through Krakowskie Przedmieście, Plac Bankowy and Marszałkowska. Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski led it. The organiser is Fundacja Parada Równości. Polish press reported "thousands" of marchers in 2026 without an official count; earlier estimates were about 50,000 in 2019. The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing; the parade is usually on a Saturday in mid-June. Warsaw also hosted EuroPride in 2010.

Gone but still Googled

Older guides still list places that have closed: codeRED (Twarda 7, cruise bar), Bunkier (Białostocka 5, Praga), Utopia (Jasna 1, the club space is now the mainstream Jasna 1), Le Garage (leather bar, Burakowska 12), Fantom sauna on Bracka, Toro, Wild Club and Kino Warsztat. Galeria in Hala Mirowska now trades as Crush. Names such as "Le Madame", "Tazz" and "Tęcza Bar" appear on AI-written travel sites; they are not open.

Practical tips

• Warsaw Chopin airport (WAW) is about 10 km from the centre, with trains and buses; Warsaw Modlin (WMI), used by budget airlines, is about 40 km north.
• ZTM public transport: a 20-minute ticket costs 3.40 zł, 75 minutes 4.40 zł and 24 hours 15 zł. Night buses (lines numbered N) run after the metro closes.
• Holding hands is fine in the centre, less so in outer districts and smaller towns. The parade has a history of counter-protests, so stay with the crowd on the day.
• Cards are widely accepted, but carry a little cash for cloakrooms and door fees.

Is Warsaw safe for gay travellers?

Generally yes in the centre. The city government signed an LGBT+ Declaration in 2019 and the mayor leads Pride. Normal night-time caution applies, and some outer districts are more conservative. Hate crimes based on sexual orientation are not a separate offence in Polish law.

How many gay saunas does Warsaw have?
