Fantastic place

A must-see beautiful place

I have always loved going here since I lived in NYC for almost 10 years. I know their library staff is very nice and helpful. One thing that happened to me ruined my impression of this place. When I returned the research book I borrowed earlier to them today, I’m not sure if it was security or whatever position staff are in the Rose reading room. She questioned me, and her attitude made it sound like I was the thief trying to steal books. Saying she doesn’t know how I borrowed the book before, without specifying what label was on the book, and said she wouldn’t let me leave if I didn’t have that label. But today I’m just returning the book, and that’s all. NYPL, you should do better to train your staff on how to speak with visitors. Sad to say, I’ll never return to this place from now on, knowing how I was treated today.
