About this place RUSA LGBT - Russian-Speaking American LGBT Association

RUSA LGBT is a community group for Russian-speaking LGBTQ+ people and their allies in the U.S. Forget bars and restaurants. This isn't a place you just show up to. Since 2008, RUSA LGBT has worked to build a support network for LGBTQ+ immigrants and asylum seekers, along with anyone else connected to Russian-speaking communities from the old Soviet Union — Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, you name it. They're not a physical venue, but a community. They welcome anyone who identifies with, or has ties to, the Russian-speaking LGBTQ+ world. Whether you've lived here forever or just arrived, if you're looking for that specific connection, this is it. You'll find a culturally aware space that celebrates both Russian language and heritage, alongside LGBTQ+ identity. Meetings usually happen at the Mid-Manhattan Library, which is easy to get to by subway. If you're in New York and want to meet people, understand what support is out there, or just find a group that gets both your cultural background and your LGBTQ+ identity, reach out to them. Check their website for current meeting times, upcoming events, and how to get involved.

It's an excellent place to study and read. I used to meet there once a week for conversation classes and practice, where people from various parts of the world came together with some teachers and students who was lerning English.
