What reviewers say

Visitors praise Gruta as a welcoming, multicultural space with fair prices, varied programming, and excellent service. However, some find the musical selections less appealing under new management, and a common complaint is that it gets uncomfortably hot when crowded due to insufficient fans.

About this place GRUTA!

GRUTA! is a queer arts and culture space in the Horto neighbourhood of Belo Horizonte, east of the city centre. It runs drag shows, themed parties, live music and exhibitions, and draws a young, mixed crowd from the city's alternative LGBTQ+ scene. It is more of an arts venue with a bar than a commercial nightclub. Programming changes week to week and the doors open only on event nights, so check its social media for the current line-up before heading over. Google reviewers rate it 4.4 from about 300 reviews. Take a taxi or app car late at night rather than walking.

Super cool place to dance. Enjoy some good music and spend a relaxed evening with friends. It's an environment open to everyone. The prices are fair. And the programming is very varied and interesting. I recommend it!

First of all: incredible space, pleasant atmosphere, clean bathrooms, very attentive and efficient bar service. But look, I loved the old Gruta, from 2024 and before. I gave the new one about three chances and although the physical structure is indeed much more incredible, the musical selections, with rare exceptions, have become difficult to stick with. I totally understand that this might be a generational shift, but it seems like the party never really takes off! P.S.: I'm someone who likes Brazilian music, techno, house, pop, electronic, funk, brega, etc. For me, the party has to click, regardless of the style. Gruta remains an incredible space, but research the party and who's playing VERY thoroughly; you might end up at a party that doesn't suit you and leave you feeling like: what a bad party.
