Selva Elétrica" by Vivian Caccuri Premieres at CAIXA Cultural Brasília on August 18

Unprecedented exhibition, curated by Bernardo José de Souza, transforms sounds, installations, and textile works into a sensory journey that invites the public to rethink the relationships between humans, nature, and culture. The buzz of a mosquito can tell a story about culture, nature, colonialism, feral ecology, and how we perceive the world. It is from this encounter between sound art, installation, and visual arts that Selva Elétrica, an exhibition by artist Vivian Caccuri, is born, opening at CAIXA Cultural Brasília on August 18 and running until November 22. Curated by Bernardo José de Souza, the exhibition invites the public to explore environments where sound, video, sculptures, and textile works transform the gallery into an immersive experience, where listening plays a role as important as looking. Admission is free. Instead of presenting isolated works, Selva Elétrica builds a grand sensory atmosphere. Electrical cables take the form of vines, speakers are spread throughout the space as if integrated into a forest, and sounds produced from scientific recordings of mosquitoes, combined with frequencies generated by artificial intelligence, guide the visitor through a journey that brings the jungle closer to the city. Among the highlights is Gatonet (Tiana), an unprecedented installation created for the exhibition, which occupies a large part of the gallery and transforms the buzzing of these insects into a soundscape.
