Paper as a Scene Partner: Contemporary Circus Solo Show Takes DF Stages in August
About the event
Made possible by FAC-DF, Marcella Romar's production proposes a sensory experience about error and new beginnings; the program includes three performances and a free workshop.
BRASÍLIA/DF — What happens when paper stops being a mere writing support and starts dictating the rules of the game on stage? This is the provocation of "Fragmentos de Uma Viagem de Papel" (Fragments of a Paper Journey), a contemporary circus solo show conceived and performed by artist Marcella Romar. With a strong sensory impact and reflective humor, the production has a very short run in the Federal District in August, with only three performances and a free workshop.
Made possible by the Federal District Culture Support Fund (FAC-DF), the show fluidly transitions between circus, dance, and theater. On stage, Marcella Romar puts her own body at real risk by balancing and walking on cylindrical paper tubes and manipulating sheets of recycled materials. Paper becomes both opponent and landscape, guiding the audience through a journey about persistence and the beauty of new beginnings.
Far from empty virtuosity, each acrobatic movement arises from a deep dramatic necessity, punctuated by a distinctly eccentric and innovative atmosphere. The narrative investigates the human journey in a cycle of repetition and persistence.
"The show transforms imbalance, falls, and errors into visual and physical poetry.
