About the event

After years of commercial success and auction records — Pace Gallery began representing Constantin Brâncuși's estate this year, shortly before his sculpture "Danaïde" (1913) was sold for $107.6 million at Christie's — the contents of the Romanian-French artist's historic studio in Montparnasse arrive at MoMA. Bequeathed to the French State in 1957 and held by the Centre Pompidou, currently undergoing a five-year renovation, the studio's collection travels across the Atlantic after a stint in Berlin, bringing together dozens of rarely loaned sculptures, photographs, films, furniture, and the very tools Brâncuși used. The MoMA exhibition juxtaposes these materials with pieces from the museum's own extensive collection dedicated to the sculptor, offering a rare glimpse into the workspace that shaped his production.
