Chronotopic", by Gabriel Orozco at White Cube
About the event
Over 100 new and existing works by Gabriel Orozco — including sculptures, paintings, photographs, assemblages, and works on paper — occupy White Cube Bermondsey in "Chronotopic," an exhibition coinciding with Frieze London 2026 and the tenth anniversary of the "Orozco Garden," the Mexican artist's permanent commission at the South London Gallery. The exhibition also marks twenty years since his first show at the gallery, "Twelve Paintings and a Drawing" (2006), and thirty years since his London solo exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Structured as a "chronotopic logbook" — a record of observations, associations, and historical contingencies — the exhibition is curated by British historian and critic Briony Fer and stems from the spirit of "Politécnico Nacional," Orozco's recent solo exhibition at Museo Jumex in Mexico City. The works gathered function as objects that travel through time, changing meaning as they move between places, contexts, histories, and systems of interpretation.
