Lithographs 1988–1998" by Minoru Nomata at White Cube
About the event
White Cube presents an online exhibition of historical lithographs by Minoru Nomata, a Japanese artist known for creating, over four decades, his own vocabulary of imaginary architectural and topographical forms that transcend specific time and place. The prints gathered in this selection, produced between 1988 and 1998 and delicately retouched with watercolor by the artist himself, remained stored until now in Nomata's archive in Tokyo. Marked by the absence of the human figure, his painting combines the familiar with the mysterious, the heroic with the haunting – for the artist, painting is a world of escapism, but he wishes it to also be a place capable of generating energy.
