Anselm Kiefer at White Cube

White Cube Bermondsey dedicates a solo exhibition to recent paintings by Anselm Kiefer (b. 1945, Germany), one of the most important European artists of his generation. Known for incorporating primal and symbolic materials such as lead, clay, and ash into paintings, installations, sculptures, prints, and photographs, Kiefer uncompromisingly investigates historical themes and the legacy of recent European events, crossing literature, politics, religion, and philosophy in a body of work that constantly revisits certain motifs and images, as if history were a continuous cycle.
