About the event

Gagosian, in partnership with Olney Gleason and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, presents Lee Krasner's first solo exhibition in France, bringing together paintings and works on paper produced by the artist in the 1960s – a decisive period when her artistic voice gained its own identity, marked by vibrant gestural abstractions. The exhibition continues the renewed international attention around Krasner since the traveling European retrospective "Lee Krasner: Living Color" (2019-21), and coincides with "Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous," the first major double exhibition dedicated to Krasner and her husband Jackson Pollock, on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York from October 2026 to January 2027. According to Larry Gagosian, the 1960s marked a turning point in Krasner's life and career, and the gallery is proud to contribute to this increasingly broad institutional recognition of the artist's talent by presenting her for the first time in Paris. A pioneer of abstract expressionism, Krasner's artistic career was overshadowed for decades by the work of Pollock.
